1. From John Brander <johnandlindsey@...>
I just wanted to thank all of the 2008 Susan Jurkonis participants. We
had a great year and it was honestly the most competitive field I have
EVER seen. I know Carl and Ellen Jurkonis always appreciate the tight
knit badminton community and they are truly touched that we all help
Susie live on!!! BAD ON!!!!!!

3. Friendship Teams for Ladies Osaka Club at Los Angeles
The Osaka Ladies Badminton Federation of Japan is bringing their fourteenth
Annual International Friendship Ladies Team Badminton Tournament to the United
States October 17-19, 2008, at the Orange County Badminton Club in Orange,
California. The format will be a ladies doubles team format with 6 to 8 ladies
per team. The tournament will run pool play feeding into a main draw
competition.
Events will be A Zone with Advanced level teams of any age; B Zone with all
players 55 and under; C Zone with all players 56 to 65; and D Zone with all
players 66 and older. Age requirements must be met for Zones B-D as of October
17, 2008. The cost will run $200.00 per team, and the entry deadline is August
1, 2008.
Check your calendar—the Midwest would like to have as many teams as we can
muster for this great one-time event! If you have interested players, now’s
the time to start organizing your team. Each team will need a team
manager/supervisor, a team captain, and a team name like Badminton Beauties, USA
Pacific, Shuttle Smashers, etc. If you are interested in being on a team but
don’t know of a team or others who might be on a team, we need to know of your
interest so we can put teams together. Please contact Mary Ann Bowles,
314-487-7187, maryannbowles@... to let us know of your interest so we can
organize teams. Let’s go for the gold in October!
