1. Midwest Badminton Association
2008 Kyle Wargo Scholarship Award

In honor of Kyle Wargo, a junior badminton player who lost his life in a 2006
car accident, the Midwest Badminton Association Board of Directors established
an annual Kyle Wargo Scholarship Award.

The Award will consist of a four or five day session at the EIU Badminton Camp.
The session of the camp is to be determined by the junior. To receive the award,
the Midwest junior must be 12 to 18 years of age, and must submit the Top Ten
Reasons he/she should be selected for the scholarship award.

The receipt deadline for the application is Thursday, May 15. The applicant must
be a resident of the region. The award must be used in 2008 and is not
transferable. The scholarship is paid direct to the EIU Camp upon enrollment in
the camp. Applications must be submitted via postal only; no email, fax, phone
in applications or hand delivery. The hand written applications must include the
following:

Top Ten Reasons
Name of junior and name of parent
Postal address
Home phone number
A functional email address

2. Olympians don't share united voice
"...Although freedom of speech isn't enjoyed in
China, it is on the U.S. Olympic team, said
badminton player Howard Bach, who was among those
briefed by U.S. Olympic Committee officials.

"We were told, 'You should speak your mind
freely,' " Bach said. "They never told us, 'Don't
say this, don't say that.' Our building foundation
is freedom of speech."

Bach said he just worries that some outsiders might
take that freedom too far and force Olympic-related
events to be scrapped.

"Protesters do their part, I do my part," Bach
said. "We still have a couple of months to go. God
knows how bad it'll get."..."
