Dear All Badminton Enthusiasts!!!!!

I am trying to recruit "Unofficial" scorekeepers for the IHSA State Girls
Badminton
Tournament held on May 10-11, 2008. The event begins on Friday at 8:30 a.m. for
the
scorekeepers meeting. The matches start at approx. 10:00 a.m. and go until
approx. 5
p.m. Saturday from 9am to 1 p.m. ish…..

The role of a scorekeeper primarily involves keeping track of the score. There
is no
requirement to officiate the match, i.e.: make line calls, call faults, etc.
The primary role
is to get the match started on time inside the 3 minute on-court warm-up and
announce
the score after every point for the players. A flip chart person will keep the
visual score
for the audience to keep track easier.

In an attempt to encourage "players" to volunteer, I've reserved the gym for
Thursday
Evening May 9 (8-11 p.m.), and on Friday Evening May 10 (7-10 p.m.) for the
scorekeepers and support staff to play badminton to their hearts content.
Hoping you will
consider this as a possibility, especially since you'll have two great play
sessions available.
We will even supply the birds!!!!! Sorry, I don't have a budget to pay
stipends, travel, or
hotels. However, you can stay in the dorm for a very low cost. This State
Championship
Tournament Event is full of fun and excitement with approximately 200 athletes
and 800-
1000 spectators. I hope you'll consider joining us for this wonderful event.
