1. From Tony Powell <tpowell11@...>:
CLBP Member and Groups

I am sending the article below on behalf of the MBA.

ATTENTION: CHICAGO BADMINTON CLUBS!

The 2005-06 membership year for the Midwest Badminton Association clubs and
individual members begins November 1, 2005, and runs to October 31, 2006.
Would your club be interested in joining the Midwest Badminton Association?
The club registration form may be found on the MBA webpage at
midwestbadminton.com Registration fee is $30 for the club and $10 for
each member who wishes to join (the fee is the same for Adults and Junior
players). A club is considered to be a club if it has at least 6 members.
For those individuals who wish to join individually, the fee is $15.

What are the benefits of membership?

· Subscription to the Flick, the MBA newsletter (on-line or hard copy)

· Eligible to play in Regional Championships (Adult, Senior, Junior)

· Eligible to earn ranking points

· May apply for Junior Development funds

· Club has a vote at Annual General Meeting held during Adult
Championships

· Support of tournament badminton in the Midwest

If you’ve seen the Flick, you know it keeps members up-to-date on coming
tournaments, tournament entries, tournament results, coaching and player
camps, officials’ clinics, a tournament schedule, and current badminton
news. The MBA hosts a Senior Championships (35+), usually in the winter or
spring of each year. The MBA Adult Championships are usually held in March,
and the MBA Junior Championships are usually held in the spring. The MBA
rankings are usually posted in the fall so that tournament directors can
refer to them for seedings in their tournaments. Did you know there were
Juniors training in the Midwest funded by the MBA? Their coaches have
applied for funding to assist with their training.

The MBA is led by nine Board of Directors’ members, three of whom are
annually elected at the Midwest Adult Championships in the spring. Each MBA
club has a vote in the election held at this tournament. Information on the
present Board may be found on the MBA website.

If you have any questions, you may refer to the MBA website. Any of the
nine Board members will be happy to help you as well. Any membership
questions may be directed to the MBA Secretary, Mary Ann Bowles, at
Mabowles@... <mailto:Mabowles@...> The MBA would be happy to
welcome new clubs to our ranks.

[Thanks to Tony for the info!]
