My own personaly preference is to go no gloves and no headgear with a
mouthpiece...but not too many people want to do that and that is
understandable. I agree with Stu's thinking that it is good to work a
variety of gear combinations. No single way using gear really is without
limitations.
My biggest beef with using headgear and gloves is the distance distortion
they create. It is not a huge thing but I do train to slip punches very
close...and inch or two away is a very good distance to get missed by. It
allows me to recover back without moving too far or taking too much time.
Now just and inch of face mask proturding makes me have to slip out of the
way an inch further, now add an inch of padding on the gove and now a
punch that would have just grazed me lands solidly.
I am not sure exactly what Scott S's solftwork is....Stu could you
alaborate? I think we may do something along those lines here but without
a name:)
