Greetings, fellow Western Martial Artists! The Academia della Spada
would like to invite you to the Western Washington Western Martial
Arts Workshop (or, as we've come to call it, "4W"), held from
February 25th through February 27th, 2005.
This unique event is the first major Historic European Martial Arts
symposium ever held in the Pacific Northwest, and will feature some
of the highest quality instruction in historical fence that the
Western Martial Arts community has to offer.
Participants at the event will have the opportunity to study in one
of three core curriculums: rapier, sword, or longsword. The course
work for each curriculum will build over the three days, starting
with core skills and developing to more advanced theory and practice
unique to each specific weapon form. Experienced fencers and
newcomers alike will enjoy an exceptional grounding in essential
techniques complimented by advanced training from a variety of world-
class instructors. Additional elective classes will also be
available covering such styles and weapons as dagger, unarmed
striking and grappling styles (including Pugilism, of course!),
quarterstaff, mounted combat, and small sword.
To maximize this cumulative training approach, we have assembled a
faculty of top specialists in each respective weapon and system,
including: Maestro Sean Hayes, Maestro Ramón Martínez, Maestro
Jeannette Acosta-Martínez, Bob Charron, Christian Tobler, Brian
McIlmoyle, Tom Leoni, Jared Kirby, Gary Chelak, Antone Blair, Jherek
Swanger, and others.
