Hello,
I'm not sure if this is relevant to the group or not, but I'm trying
to trace the source of a couple of quotes - my assumption is that
they come from pre twentieth century boxing/self defence manuals.
The first;
"In matters of fisticuffs, one should always remove one's spectacles,
or pince nez and place them in a secure case, and deposit the case in
one's breast pocket."
The second I don't have exactly, but from memory it's something along
the lines of gentlemen not boxing each other, but using the noble art
to chastise ruffians (I think the wording isn't
actually "ruffians"; "impudent members of the lower orders"..?)
I had no luck using Google to find either the quotes or the source
document; any suggestions much appreciated.
Regards,
John
