Hi again Terry....
The term itself goes back to at least 1742 when it was written down
and basically means `to try (for) a fall' - to wrestle or grapple with
an opponent, a wrestling match, a tussle.
Wrestlers were known as `Shakkers' which was also the name given to
moving racks in a threshing-mill
