Re: Observations on BKB vs Kalis Illustrisimo.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the advice. I did try switching leads at various times
during the fight and this worked for me quite a bit as the act of
switching leads play with the distance nicely.

As for using the obvious counter as a draw. This is exactly what I
ended up doing. I would throw a half hearted jab to draw the hook
which I wore on my right forearm whilst I finished the jab and then
flew out.

I might have to try a little more hand movement than I am now to
avoid this hand sniping attack. This kind of thing is an Illustrisimo
specialty.

As for following with a right immediately after the left, I did try
this and it worked especially well when my jab was a feint and I made
the right hand blow an overhand one to keep my elbow high.

As for grappling, this would have been my strong area however we were
training on a concrete driveway.

Outmatched? Definitely and for the rest of my days.:) Having said
that though, I had far more success with the extended lead than I did
trying to box Filipino style or using my limited modern western
training. Next week I shall try a Mendoza type guard.
Cheers,
Stu.

Stu, Hmm...it's interesting that you found yourself vulnerable to a rounding blow while throwing a lead. Usually, this doesn't happen, since the distance along...
