Hello all,
I would like to discuss the similarities and differences between the
philosophy and strategies of the Liechtenauer/German tradition of
fencing with that of George Silver's paradoxes of defense. Granted
there is a 300-year difference between the two writings with obvious
differences in some weapons forms and usage.
In practice it is oblivious that in timing you will see the
similarities out right with German concept of following the blow and
Silver's timing of moving in the time of the hand body and foot, so as
not to arrive to your opponent first before your weapon does which has
been proven to be a bad habit one will not make more than once. Beyond
this example, what are some other observations you have found from your
readings and practice?
Thanks,
Matthew
