On January 13th and 14th in Arcata, California the Association for
Historical Fencing and the Humboldt State University Fencing Club
will host the first workshop on the west coast for the training of
directors and judges for AHF fencing tournaments. Maestri Ramon
Martinez and Jeannette Acosta Martinez will provide two days of
instruction and training in the proper methods and procedures for
judging and directing at classical and historical fencing tournaments
utilizing the AHF rules.
The workshop will cover all protocols for judges and directors. The
AHF rules for each weapons category will be covered in minute detail;
including safety requirements for all weapons and equipment, what
constitutes a valid hit in all weapons, rules of priority for the
conventional weapons (foil and sabre), etc. It is the responsibility
of the participants to be familiar with the rules. You can download
copies of all the rules from the AHF website (www.ahfi.org).
Participants completing this seminar will be eligible to officiate at
future AHF tournaments. Cost of the workshop is $50 per person.
