If you are considering competing in the AFL National Division
championships in individual foil, but have been hesitating because of
the afternoon preliminary rounds (on Friday, May 19), please send in
your entry anyway!
As it stands right now, we do not have enough foil competitors to
require Friday afternoon/evening preliminary rounds, and may be able
to contest individual foil entirely on Saturday, May 20.
If we get enough entrants that we need to have preliminary rounds, we
will let everyone know by this Sunday (May 7th). Those foilists who
cannot make the prelims on Friday will be eligible for a refund of
their entry fees.
I would also encourage you to enter if you can rather than be self-
defeating with the "I'll never make it past the first round because
I'm not good enough" attitude. The number of entrants is low right
now, and anything can happen. For people in the Pacific Northwest,
NatDiv divisional championships are in your backyard this year. Who
knows where they will be next year? For all of you, here's a chance
to make some new friends a fence with people you only get to see
rarely -- and maybe win a medal!
Come join us in Salem! Entry forms are on our website. Deadline for
entries is a Saturday, May 6th postmark (LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE
ACCEPTED!).
If you have questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
