Typically, posting copyrighted data to the web is considered publishing
it world-wide, hence copyright infringement. You can make "fair use"
photocopies to distribute to a class you are teaching, or post book
excerpts and articles to a university server, but only if you have a
fairly extensive firewall which prevents non-students from accessing
the information. However, no one will stop you from shipping the book
to me here in Bahrain once you've finished it, for me to borrow...
