TON UP FOR CLARETS TRUST
The Clarets Trust is delighted to announce it has passed the first milestone
of its fledging life.
Launched on the 11 September with a series of high profile events following
the match against Crewe, the Trust is celebrating having already signed up
over 100 members.
Tony Scholes, Trust Chair, adds, “To reach 100 members of the Trust so soon
after launching is a great achievement so thanks to those fans who have
supported us so far. We know it’s going to be a long slog as other clubs
have found that many fans only sign up for Trusts when faced by an emergency
situation.
“Thankfully we aren’t in that situation here but we want to remind fans that
it’s in their interests to help keep the Club safe and ultimately help the
team on the pitch by supporting us. We have received many messages of
support from fans all over the world as well as ex-players, which shows that
you don’t have to live locally to support us. Indeed the latest exiled fan
to offer us support is John Kettley.
Well known Burnley fan, weatherman John Kettley, says, “This is a great
initiative from Burnley fans to help protect the future of the Club. I am
always proud to say that I’m a Burnley fan and although the team is not in
the great position it was when I was younger, we all want to see the Club
get as much success as it possibly can.
“One way of achieving this is for fans to join the Trust and support their
fellow fans through this group. The Trust committee seem to have the best
interests of the Club at heart and we have all seen the good work Trusts
have done at other Clubs in the country so lets hope this one can be just as
successful for the team and the town.”
The Trust aims to give Burnley fans a greater say in the future running of
Burnley FC and ultimately hopes to buy shares in the Club. Membership of
the Trust for one year costs £10 for full membership with discounts
available.
