Hey rings,
Thanks for the titled message. I myself am still in disbelief after this whole
thing. I still
can't figure out the motive behind the whole situation, but I find myself in a
position where
I am keeping silent (unless asked) about the tragedy. I still regard Benoit as
my inspiration
up until the weekend of all this craziness. I don't have any answers and can't
pretend I
know I have them, but I can't ignore the contributions Benoit has made in
wrestling and at
the same time I accept the findings what the authorities that lead them to
believe that
Benoit murdered his family. But like I said before, the pieces don't fit to the
puzzle and all I
can do is wait until something makes sense. I hope Chris and his family's souls
will find
peace very soon.

Interesting theory, that would make a lot more sense if it were true.
I suppose I would like to know what Sullivan was up to that fateful
weekend, but at this point this is nothing but speculation. How is it
a known fact that Sullivan told Benoit he was going to kill him? Where
is that documented or reported?

The tragic deaths of Chris Benoit and his wife Nancy and son Daniel
have shocked the wrestling world. The police are calling it a
double-murder-suicide, but is it really? Let's look at some facts. It
has been 10 years exactly since Nancy divorced Kevin Sullivan to marry
Chris Benoit. In the 1980's Sullivan, along with his then-wife Nancy,
were running a gimmick in wrestling of how they were Satanists, and
Nancy was known as "The Fallen Angel." She later became known as
"Woman." The trouble with the Satanists gimmick was it was for real,
and was not a work, or fake. In the 1990's Kevin Sullivan was the
booker for WCW, and he scripted his wife Nancy into having an affair
with Chris Benoit who was a member of the Four Horsemen. This made for
a good angle, except, the acting became reality as Chris and Nancy
actually fell in love and Nancy divorced Sullivan to marry Benoit.

Benoit left the WCW to go to work for the WWE which was then known as
the WWF. It is a fact that Sullivan threatened Benoit and told him he
would kill him. Yes, that was 10 years ago, but Kevin Sullivan is no
dummy. He is known for being a calculating, cold-hearted individual.
Today, according to a source close to me, Kevin Sullivan is a high
ranking member of the Satanic Church. The police need to consider the
possibility that Sullivan carried out these gruesome murders in order
to have his revenge, which is what Satanists live for. He could have
entered the home, with an accomplice or accomplices and held the
Benoit's at gunpoint, Sullivan could have then bound up Nancy, and
made Benoit and his son watch as he strangled the life out of her.
Then the next day after making Benoit and his son spend the day in
agony, murdered Benoit's little boy because of his hatred for the
offspring of Benoit and Nancy. Then he could have made Benoit wait an
entire day before killing him to by hanging him in the basement.

By doing this, not only would Kevin Sullivan have lived out his
Satanic Church creed with his lust for revenge, but he would have
destroyed Chris Benoit's reputation which is what has happened now as
the wrestling world is attacking the memory of Chris Benoit
remembering him as an insane baby killer and wife killer instead of
the great World Champion wrestler and friend that he was.

Satanists hate the Bible and the police have stated that a Bible was
found next to the bodies of Benoit's wife and son. This would serve as
a bizarre calling card as if to either say "What good did your Bible
do you?" or to throw off investigators to keep them from suspecting
Sullivan and his Satanists would have been involved.

Another thing to note is the fact that Kevin Sullivan was also
associated with Sherri Martel, who died just a few days before the
bodies of Chris Benoit, and his family was found, and the full details
of Martell's death have not been made known as of the time of this
writing.

I wonder why the police have not even considered investigating the
possibility the Kevin Sullivan killed Benoit, Nancy, and their child.
It is certainly a possibility worth looking in to.

Also, Benoit was going to be crowned ECW World Champion on Sunday
night. Why would he murder his family and kill himself when he was
going to be on top again and make lots more money?

Why would he tie his wife up before killing her? He would have no
reason to, but Kevin Sullivan sure would!

Sure he had some problems with Nancy, but that was 4 years ago and
what married couple doesn't have problems? Remember also that they
reconciled and as far as everyone knows there has been no other
incidents reported.

One also needs to consider the fact that Benoit loved his kids and was
so proud of his son that was killed. His kids wore suits and ties to
his wrestling events and was proud of their dad. He was loved and
respected by all those who knew him.

In my opinion, there is no way he would have murdered his family.
This whole murder case has Satanists written all over it and Sullivan
is a Satanist and has the motive to murder them.

I am encouraging anyone who reads this to send this to police
authorities and circulate it on the internet, so these facts can be
investigated, before the case is closed and Benoit is written off in
history a murderer. If Sullivan is the real killer, justice should be
served!

As a former Pro Wrestler myself, now a born again Christian and world
wide evangelist, I am hoping and praying for justice no matter who is
responsible.

Yesterday afternoon I was just checking the forums and my usual
websites before sitting down to have dinner with my girlfriend, when
I saw something that shocked me. "Chris Benoit and family found
dead." At first, I didn't know what to make of this, especially
after two weeks of "mourning" Mr. McMahon after his staged limousine
explosion. But there it was, on WWE.com, that Chris Benoit and his
family had been found dead. As more details became available, it was
specified that by "family" they meant his wife, the former wrestling
valet known as Woman, and their youngest son, who was seven years
old. Benoit's other two sons were in Canada, and are alive. At first
there were no details on what happened, just that police were
investigating. The first two theories that popped into my head were
that the family died from carbon monoxide poisoning or someone
busted into their house and murdered everyone. I didn't want to even
think for a second that my favorite wrestler could have committed a
murder/suicide. It simply could not have been that.

But now there are reports everywhere, from legit news sources like
the Atantla DA office and such, that they believe this was indeed a
murder/suicide. They believe that Woman was killed on Saturday, the
son was killed on Sunday, and Benoit took his own like on Monday.
There is still no word on what the cause of death was, though I
assume it would have been shooting. I don't even know how to begin
to comprehend this.

Chris Benoit: the former World Heavyweight Champion,
Intercontinental Champion, United States Champion, multi-time Tag
Team Champion, and internationally loved and respected professional
wrestler. Chris Benoit, a man who I believed in. In a "fake" sport,
Benoit was my hero. He represented everything about wrestling that I
loved and percieved to be good. I remember going to my first
wrestling show in 2002, and it was Benoit's first television match
since coming back from neck surgery. That meant the world to me at
the time. Later that year I saw Benoit team up with Kurt Angle and
tear the house down against Edge and Rey Mysterio in a 26 minute 2/3
falls tag team match. That meant the world to me as well.

But now my hero is murderer. I don't know how to take this. I don't
want to be in denial and grasp to any theories that somehow it
didn't happen that way. I don't want to make excuses for him either.
All I know is that this is going to haunt me for a very long time to
come.

Subject: Vengeance: The Night of "Champions"

This Sunday, World Wrestling Entertainment presents Vengeance,
a "Night of Champions." The hype for this show has been on the back-
burner thanks to the continuing fake news coverage over the death of
Mr. McMahon (which CNBC claims could make WWE vulnerable to lawsuits
over the fact that they are a publicly traded company and have
issued press releases in an attempt to blur the lines between
fiction and real life). Also add to the fact that Vengeance is right
on the heels of One Night Stand and the recent news that Backlash
did a poor buyrate, this show appears to be doomed. So what exactly
is going wrong in WWE land with this show and what could have been
done to fix this?
1) Mick Foley is stepping out of retirement (again) and is main
eventing his first pay-per-view since Wrestlemania 16 (back in April
2000). This is a stunt clearly designed to boost the buyrate, but is
this really an effective plan in the year 2007? WWE needs to realize
that Foley has been an inactive talent for seven years now. In
perspective, seven years before 2000 was 1993, where Yokozuna and
Lex Luger were headlining for the World Wrestling Federation. That's
an awful long time in the wrestling world, and the fanbase has
clearly shifted. When Foley came out on the draft episode of Raw and
announced that he was accepting the open challenge for Vengeance,
you could practically hear crickets in the audience. No one really
seemed to care, and I think Foley noticed it. I am a huge Foley
mark, but it is time to face reality now.
You may have noticed that in the past two years, Raw (as well as
Smackdown) has been enjoying larger attendance at shows. However,
these are not the same fans who were turned off by the product in
2002 and 2003 and have magically returned. These are new fans, who
have been sucked in by the buzz coming from the current stars, most
notably John Cena and Edge. When they see Foley on Raw, they are all
aware that he used to be a big star, but to them he is just an out
of shape retiree with a bad hair cut. They are also conditioned to
seeing Foley show up mainly to put people over. That is admirable on
Foley's behalf, but a lot of the newer fans unfortunately see him as
a loser in the process.
2) Stephanie McMahon on Raw. With less than a week before a pay-per-
view, you know, the shows that cost viewers 40 bucks a pop to
witness, Stephanie comes out and makes a big announcement about the
NEXT episode of Raw. Yeah, it's going to be three hours and have all
three brands (two weeks after the last three hour episode and draft
that was supposedly going to reestablish the lines between brands)
so the show is going to be a big deal. However, it makes a state of
mind in the fans that they have something big to look forward to
next Monday, on free television, so they can skip paying $40 for
Vengeance on Sunday, and maybe they'll pick it up later for $16 at
Wal-Mart or watch it on WWE 24/7.
Stephanie also faces the same challenge that Foley does. The current
fanbase isn't that familiar wtih her. Some longterm fans will
remember her as the helpless victim of The Undertaker in 1999, or
Triple H's scheming wife in 2000, and maybe some of the newer fans
can remember when she was the sympathetic general manager of
Smackdown in 2002 and 2003. But most of the new fans, who jumped on
board in the past two years, only know her as Vince's daughter, and
might even remember her as the obnoxious loud-mouth who tried
getting herself over again when Raw returned to USA. But based on
her nonexistant crowd reaction on the last Raw, it is clear to me
that the fans don't remember her or just don't care about her
anymore, or a mixture of both.
3) The "Night of Champions" concept is a pretty cool idea, but it
also exposes how poorly the WWE has been booking the championship
belts. The issue is that many of the titles have been booked into
oblivion or are being held by superstars who aren't really being
pushed. Let's take a look at the titles.
WWE Champion: John Cena. This is the best booked title in the WWE
today, which is a good thing because the title dates back to 1963.
Cena has been a great champion during his third reign, and I don't
see any reason why he should drop it at Vengeance. The match itself,
with a collection of former champions just thrown in there,
screams "fantasy booking," and has the potential to be a real
cluster-fuck. However, there is a strong chance that Cena's reign
could be up this time, and that gives the match a much needed
injection of excitement. This match will probably be the main draw
for this show, for obvious reasons.
World Heavyweight Champion: Edge. The rumors have been that Edge is
going to be a longterm champion, which many have assumed this means
that he'll be holding the belt until Wrestlemania time. Edge was a
great choice to hold this belt when Undertaker got hurt, because he
brings a fresh touch to Smackdown and it gives him an opportunity to
run with the ball, something that wasn't going to happen for him on
Raw. My only issue with the match on Sunday is that Edge has been
feuding with Batista for months now, and they have not produced
anything memorable as far as storytelling goes and reactions to
their pay-per-view bouts have been lukewarm at best. I'm eager for
Edge to retain the title and feud with a returning Rey Mysterio
later this year, while Batista finally gets his feud with Mark Henry
off the ground (assuming that Henry doesn't go down with ANOTHER
injury).
ECW World Championship: Vacant. Chris Benoit and CM Punk are going
to wrestle at Vengeance for this title, and that is a legitimate
dream match amongst the internet crowd. If this match delivers, it
will be automatically worth picking up on DVD, no matter how awful
the rest of the show is. The winner should be Chris Benoit at this
point, mainly because he's never held the ECW title, and he would
make the ECW brand seem legitimate.
Intercontinental Champion: Santino Marella. The IC title has sunken
really low in 2007. It was making a comeback last year, during the
great Jeff Hardy/Johnny Nitro feud, but since Umaga won the title in
February (by absolutely squashing Hardy) the title has been off the
radar again. Umaga barely defended the title and Marella winning it
was a neat, if not completely random moment. Marella has had some
okay-ish title defenses, but he isn't catching on the way WWE hoped,
and it seems that his time is up on Sunday. If Umaga takes the belt,
I really hope they do something with it this time, because the IC
title has too much history behind it to simply be forgotten about
now.
United States Champion: MVP. Smackdown has treated the U.S. title
the way Raw should be treating the IC title. They aren't just using
the title to get MVP over, but they are also using MVP to add to the
title's prestige. That is something that WWE forgets to do with most
of their championships. MVP won the title at the end of a tremendous
feud with Chris Benoit, and I dearly hope he doesn't lose to Flair
on Sunday.
World Tag Team Champions: Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch. This title
is making a comeback of sorts, as Jeff and Matt Hardy did a lot to
bring attention back to the gold. Cade and Murdoch have been booked
much better now than they were during their first reign (they won
the title almost immediately after debuting and lost to little
fanfare against Big Show and Kane less than two months later). There
is no reason for the Hardy's to take the title back on Sunday, as
they are both on seperate shows and it is high time to reestablish
the lines between brands.
WWE Tag Team Champions: Deuce and Domino. This belt is really
hurting right now. London and Kendrick reigned for 11 months, but I
can hardly remember anything they were involved in during the last
five months of the reign. Deuce and Domino randomly took the titles
on a throway episode of Smackdown and have done nothing of note
since either. They don't even have scheduled opponents for
Vengeance, with many predicting the Majors Brothers will be getting
the shot. This is also only the second pay-per-view appearance by
Deuce and Domino, with their first being all the way back at No Way
Out in February. My question is why put the tag titles on a team
that they don't even think enough of to schedule on pay-per-views on
a regular basis, that it took a "Night of Champions" theme just to
get them on the show?
Women's Champion: Melina. This title almost always gets included on
pay-per-views, but that suggests that it is more prestigious than it
really is. The Women's title match is almost always the piss break
match, as it is routinely poor quality and frequently is placed on
the card in between main event matches. Candice Michelle has a very
real chance of taking the title on Sunday, and would be the first
Diva Search contestant to win the gold. Melina has not been taking
off as champion too well, but at least she is someone who WWE thinks
enough of to have regularly portrayed on television, unlike former
champions such as Molly Holly (she was practically invisible in her
2003 run) and Gail Kim.
Cruiserweight Champion: Chavo Guerrero. And we end here, on the most
depressing championship in all of the WWE. Why is Chavo Guerrero the
champ? To push him? To reward him for his hard work? No, the reason
Chavo is the champ is because they had NOTHING else for him to do.
His push towards the U.S. title flopped and his character was dead
in the water, thanks to the tasteless feud against Rey Mysterio
(even though Chavo won that feud, his character was damaged badly).
So Chavo won the title at No Way Out, as the surprise entrant to a
cruiserweight open, just after Jimmy Wang Yang had unceremoniously
ended the year-plus reign of Gregory Helms. Since then, Chavo has
been barely used on television and has been featured on ZERO pay-per-
views, that is until this "Night of Champions" theme forced
Smackdown to push the cruiserweight division again in recent weeks.
Again, I want to ask the WWE why is it that they would put a
championship on someone they did not plan on utilizing in any
meaningful way.
Final Thoughts: So there you have it, this "Night of Champions"
concept has exposed how poorly WWE has been booking the titles.
Thanks to the theme, they are presenting a pay-per-view full of
participants who are barely ever on pay-per-views, yet they are
somehow the champions or the top contenders. WWE officials and
writers probably don't care about this situation, but it would be my
deep hope that they will learn a lesson from Vengeance and that
things will improve from here.

On the heels of ROH announcing their PPV/VOD deal, TNA Wrestling has
made the call to pull all talents from future ROH shows. The reason
is that TNA talents under contract cannot appear on "competing PPV"
or other DVD distributed through a national chain. This had not been
a problem until yesterday's announcement from ROH. TNA made the call
today and stated that they know ROH fans will be upset, but felt they
had no choice after learning about ROH's PPV expansion yesterday via
the Internet. Christopher Daniels recently finished up with the
promotion and over the last months ROH had been phasing out the use

The PWG people sent out the following release today:

Los Angeles, CA - Generally, the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla
(http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) news releases have been light-
hearted yet informative, however that will not be the case on this
occasion. Since our humble beginnings in July 2003, Pro Wrestling
Guerrilla has booked employees of TNA Wrestling to appear on our
shows, in what can only be considered a successful relationship for
all parties involved. Both companies experienced tremendous growth
during this time period, admittedly with Pro Wrestling Guerrilla
aided infinitely more so by TNA Wrestling than the other way around,
and the relationship between the two companies has been affable. On
April 24, 2007, TNA Wrestling presented Pro Wrestling Guerrilla with
a contract that would prevent TNA Wrestling employees from appearing
on DVDs sold through or distributed by any third parties. Because
this would include long-time partner Highspots.com, as of May 3,
2007, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has severed all ties with TNA
Wrestling.

Since February 2004, Highspots.com has been a major contributor to
the success of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, by helping us to increase the
popularity of our company through Highspots.com production and
distribution of our DVDs. Since TNA Wrestling presented us with the
contract on April 24, we have considered every possible solution,
from opting out of our contract with Highspots.com, self distribution
of events featuring TNA Wrestling employees (both of which, to their
credit, Highspots.com was agreeable with), to releasing DVDs without
the matches of TNA Wrestling employees through Highspots.com. Each
solution, except one, was either financially irresponsible, meant
higher costs for the fans, or would greatly compromise the quality of
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla as a whole. Therefore, we have been forced to
end our business relationship indefinitely.

Because of this situation, TNA Wrestling employees Chris Sabin and
Alex Shelley will not be appearing at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's DDT4
Tag Team Title Tournament on May 19 & 20. We at Pro Wrestling
Guerrilla would like to apologize to Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin,
who along with Frankie Kazarian, were not simply employees, but part
of the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla family. We would also like to
apologize to Samoa Joe, Low Ki, AJ Styles, and Christopher Daniels,
whom we had booked for upcoming Pro Wrestling Guerrilla events. We
would also like to thank Homicide, Austin Aries, Petey Williams, and
all those previously mentioned for their hard work and
professionalism as Pro Wrestling Guerrilla wrestlers.

And most importantly, we would like to apologize to our fans, who
have come to enjoy seeing TNA employees both at our live events and
on our DVDs. Your appreciation and support gave the TNA employees a
chance to wrestle at a level they often time are unable to. We hope
you can understand that this was not an easy decision to make, but we
did what we feel was best for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla now, and in the
future. Later today, we will provide updated information regarding
the DDT4 Tag Team Title Tournament, including the last team, more non-
tournament matches, and the final DDT4 first round matches!

INTERNATIONAL WRESTLING PHENOMENON RING OF HONOR INKS STATESIDE
TELEVISION DEALS

WITH iN DEMAND, TVN AND ECHOSTAR

PPV/VOD Distribution Deals Bring ROH into 50 Million Households

New York, May 3, 2007 - Ring Of Honor Wrestling (ROH), in association
with G-Funk Sports & Entertainment, has concluded programming and
distribution deals for PPV and VOD wrestling cards with iN DEMAND
Networks, TVN and EchoStar Communications Corporation's DISH
NetworkTM, making the critically-acclaimed ROH brand available for
the first time ever to approximately 50 million American households.
The agreement calls for a card every 60 days from shows both
stateside and abroad, and will premiere July 1. A total of six cards
are planned throughout `07/'08. ROH owner Cary Silkin made the
announcement today with G-Funk's President Ken Gelman. The debut
event, entitled "Respect Is Earned," will be taped May 12 in New York
City from the Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center, and will
feature a glistening array of talent from Japan, England, the U.S.
and Mexico.

Long revered by a loyal underground fan base, the Philadelphia-based
ROH—currently seen on Canadian, British and Japanese TV—appeals to
the disenfranchised wrestling fan fed up with storylines which seem
to take precedence over the kind of powerful ring competition that
ROH specializes in. ROH, in fact, is seen to have the highest level
of athleticism in its field today, which recently culminated in a
sweep of the 2006 Wrestling Observer awards for "Most Outstanding
Wrestler," "Best Brawler," "Best Major Wrestling Show" (ROH took four
of its Top 10) and "Best Booker."

"Fans around the world now know that our brand of action is, indeed,
the highest-flying, hardest-hitting most daring and acrobatic action
presented today," says Mr. Silkin. "We are thrilled that we can
finally show a televised audience what our crowds have known for the
last six years…that ROH harkens back to an earlier era of wrestling
where authenticity still counted for something. There's a magic at
our shows that I, as a wrestling fan, had all but given up on."

G-Funk Sports and Entertainment will be handling all marketing and
promotion for the wrestling programs, including creation and launch
of an affiliate website on May 15, www.rohaffiliates.com, which will
contain easy-to-implement marketing materials and all event
information. Each show will also be supported by a range of targeted
national consumer advertising and promotion.

According to Mr. Gelman, "Ring Of Honor already has the respect and
enthusiastic following of legions of fans around the world through
their live events, but represents a fresh new entry into the world of
televised wrestling. These distinctive programs will prove a welcome
change-of-pace for audiences and a popular new option for cable
operators and satellite providers as they expand their transactional
offerings."

-Austin Starr has been sent home and suspended for 90 days by TNA
management. The main reason being that management was unhappy with
his attitude. There seems to be no one instance, but more of things
over time adding up. Starr is said to be a pretty blunt and brutally
honest person, which may have hurt him in the eyes of management.
Starr was scheduled to continue his storyline with Bob Backlund after
Lockdown and Backlund was at TNA's Impact taping Monday but wasn't
used. Backlund will be remaining with the company. Starr was
suspended last year along with Roderick Strong due to not following
management's wishes to leave a Ring of Honor show during a blizzard
scare. They both made the show, but their push was ended and both
suspended. Strong left the company when his contract was up and Starr
returned to the company at this past year's Bound for Glory PPV.

-Kurt Angle is in Orlando filming footage for SpikeTV.com.

-There are plans to push Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin as a tag team,
coming off of their impressive performance at the Lockdown PPV.

Ring of Honor star Colt Cabana has signed a developmental deal with
WWE and will report to OVW soon. Cabana was backstage at WrestleMania

Cabana also recently worked for Wrestling Society X under the name of
Matt Classic, which would seem to indicate that MTV has started
releasing contracted WSX talent.

Cabana's final show with ROH will be on 4/28 at the Windy City

Wrestlemania 23
April 1st 2007

Stars from ten years ago challenge the current generation for world
championships and we are promised to have a bald billionaire.
Welcome to the 23rd edition of Wrestlemania!

Good opening package for the show, making good use of the "all grown
up" catch phrase. They are airing live from Ford Field in Detroit,
Michigan, with over 80,000 fans in attendance. This is a huge night
for the WWE, especially as business has been down over the past five
years.

Aretha Franklin performs "America, The Beautiful." This is good and
all, but I am lucky to have the benefit of fast forwarding.

Another video package follows the musical performance. I am starting
to see why they only had room for eight matches this year.

Our hosts for the evening are Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler for Raw,
Michael Cole and JBL for Smackdown, and Joey Styles and Tazz for
ECW.

"Money in the Bank" Ladder match:
Jeff Hardy vs. King Booker (with Sharmell) vs. Finlay vs. CM Punk
vs. Mr. Kennedy vs. Matt Hardy vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge
Complete chaos is underway as the match begins. Kennedy and Orton
head straight to a ladder at ringside and brawl. Everyone is soon
brawling by the ring, giving Finlay a chance to leap off the
turnbuckle with a flying crossbody. Edge is up first and tries to
sneak his way up a ladder for the briefcase, but is cut off by Matt
Hardy. Orton and Finlay both try flying up the ladder, but are
knocked down. Jeff Hardy attempts to reach the suitcase, but is cut
off by Kennedy. Booker goes for a ladder under the ring, but
unwittingly drags out the step ladder belonging to Hornswoggle. The
action is everywhere. Edge tries to put CM Punk through a ladder at
ringside, but it is reversed into a snap suplex. In the ring, Booker
gains dominance, dishing out spinebusters to all who come near. We
get a Wrestlemania spinaroonie from the King. Jeff Hardy takes a
ladder and knocks down Booker, but gets jumped by Edge. Matt Hardy
dishes the side effect to Edge. Jeff and Matt set Edge up for a
double team, but Finlay makes a save. Edge suplexes Matt onto the
ladders! Kennedy plants Matt on a ladder and misses the Kenton
Splash! DAMN! Jeff hits the swanton on Kennedy. The Hardys knock
Orton down with a ladder and keep Booker from entering the ring.
They both climb the ladder and exchange shots at the top. Finlay
knocks the ladder over and clotheslines everyone who comes near.
Finlay grabs a ladder, but is speared by Edge. Edge dishes spears
out to everyone, but misses CM Punk, who leaps over him! Punk whirls
the ladder around over his shoulders, taking out several opponents.
Edge spears Punk, who falls back with the ladder hitting Orton and
Finlay. Edge drags a monster ladder to the ring, and everyone else
is down. Edge starts climbing, but Orton grabs his leg and pushes
the ladder over. Edge hits the outside mat! Jeff Hardy hits a face
first suplex on Orton. The Hardys work together, with Matt setting
Edge on a ladder propped up on the ring and barricade. Jeff climbs
to the top of the ladder in the ring and delivers the NASTIEST LEG
DROP in ages! Edge and Jeff are both dead, with Edge being taken out
on a stretcher. Orton runs in and dishes out RKO's left and right.
Orton climbs the ladder, but CM Punk runs in with a ladder, knocking
him down. Punk climbs his own ladder, but Orton climbs the other on.
They exchange strikes, and Orton RKO's Punk off the ladders!

King Booker takes advantage and climbs the ladder himself, but Orton
gets up and tries to repeat the RKO off the ladder, but it is
countered into the Bookend! Booker tries to climb again, but Matt
Hardy joins him. Sharmell interferes, grabbing Matt's leg. Matt
threatens to give her the twist of fate, forcing Booker to come save
her instead of grabbing the brief case. Hardy slams Booker and
climbs the ladder again. Kennedy is back and tips the ladder,
causing Matt to hit the canvas back first. Finlay is back, and
knocks Kennedy down. Finlay hits the Celtic cross on Hardy onto the
ladder! Finlay is busted open, and struggles to climb the ladder.
Hornswoggle enters the ring to a huge pop. Hornswoggle climbs the
ladder for Finlay. Kennedy returns and climbs up to join
Hornswoggle, who slaps him in the face. Kennedy puts him on his
shoulders and swantons off the ladder! HOLY CRAP! Meanwhile, Finlay
climbs the ladder again, but is drop kicked off by CM Punk. Punk
climbs the ladder himself, but Mr. Kennedy joins him. They exchange
shots at the top. Punk hits a lightning kick, knocking Kennedy down.
Punk has the brief case, but Kennedy knocks him down with another
ladder. Kennedy climbs the ladder and manages to unhook the brief
case, and wins the match at 19:11! This match was a complete war,
and gave each participant a chance to shine, ****1/4. I would have
scored this higher had the finish been a bigger bump.
Winner: Mr. Kennedy

The Great Khali vs. Kane
The man who was considered too incompetent to be on last year's
Summerslam gets to be on Wrestlemania this year. Fabulous. Kane
doesn't have his meat hook for his entrance, which is pretty
depressing. Oh well. Bell rings and they immediately tie up, with
Khali knocking Kane to the canvas. Kane punches Khali, but gets
pushed down again. Khali misses a clothesline, and Kane gets some
shots, but is thrown through the ropes. Khali poses and gets booed
heavily. Kane climbs up and drops Khali neck first onto the ropes.
Khali recovers and drops Kane with some clotheslines. Khali slams
Kane and clenches the back of his neck for a rest hold. Kane fights
out, but Khali slugs him down again. Khali stomps on the cornered
Kane, and hits some forearm shots. Choking by Khali. Kane reverses
the cornering and hits a fury of strikes. Khali shoves Kane down,
but Kane hits another running shot. Kane goes up top and hits the
flying clothesline, but Khali won't fall over. Kane hits Khali, who
gets tied up in the ropes. Kane takes the chance to repeatedly
strike Khali. Kane fetches his meat hook, but Khali is free. They
exchange shots. Khali hits that "brutal" side chop of his. Khali
destroys a turnbuckle padding, but Kane uses the chain of the meat
hook for a low blow, which the ref missed. Kane then POWER SLAMS
Khali! Kane goes for the cover, but Khali kicks out. Kane signals
the Chokeslam, but Khali grabs Kane by the throat. Kane runs back
into Khali's grasp and is the victim of the double handed Chokeslam.
Khali covers Kane with his foot and wins the match at 5:33. This was
one of Khali's stronger performances, and the power slam made me
happy, ¾*.
Winner: The Great Khali

After the match, Khali takes the meat hook and chokes Kane with the
chain part.

Backstage, Cryme Tyme is trying to cheer up the newly bald Eugene.
This starts a dance off, featuring the ladies from ECW's Extreme
Expose. Eugene is more happy to see Mae Young and the Fabulous
Moolah. They are joined by Slyk and Dusty Rhodes. Sgt. Slaughter,
Jimmy Hart, and IRS join the fray. Ricky Steamboat leaps in, winks
at the camera, and the festivity continues. And not surprisingly,
Ron Simmons offers his commentary of "DAMN!" Really fun segment,
with the spirit of last year's classic "freaks" segment.

United States Championship:
Chris Benoit © vs. Montel Vontavious Porter
Sadly, MVP doesn't get his inflatable entrance prop, but he has
cheerleaders. Fair trade, I guess. They tie up and shove each other
around. They do some nice chain wrestling, with MVP ultimately
getting a headlock. Benoit pushes him into the ropes, but is dropped
with a side tackle. Benoit goes for a suplex, but MVP counters and
pushes Benoit to the floor. MVP talks some trash, prompting Benoit
to aggressively go for the Crossface. MVP blocks the Crossface and
the match restarts. They tie up and MVP blocks the Crossface attempt
again. MVP dishes out a fireman's carry into a headlock attempt, but
Benoit bridges into an arm bar. MVP tries to bait a test of
strength, but goes for a kick instead. MVP runs into Benoit's elbow
and gets planted on the top rope. Benoit hits some chops, and tries
a superplex, which is blocked. MVP hangs Benoit on the top rope and
then targets Benoit's arm. MVP goes for the cover, but doesn't quite
get a two count. Benoit fights back with a chop, but MVP keeps
control. MVP misses a kick and Benoit capitalizes with a trio of
German suplexes. Benoit climbs to the top, but MVP joins him and
hits a superplex! Benoit barely kicks out of the following cover
attempt. MVP continues working the arm of Chris Benoit, and shoves
him into the turnbuckles. Back suplex by MVP for another cover
attempt. MVP locks onto Benoit's arm, twisting it in a rather
unpleasant fashion. Benoit strikes his way to freedom, but runs into
MVP's boot. MVP gets another close fall. Benoit reverses a scoop
slam and tries to get the Crossface again, but it is once again
blocked. MVP gets the scoop slam and gets the ballin' elbow drop.
Benoit kicks out of another close cover. MVP whips Benoit into the
corner but misses a running big boot. Benoit dishes out two more
German suplexes, but MVP blocks the third. Benoit blocks a suplex
from MVP and hits another trio of German suplexes! Benoit goes high
risk and hits the flying head butt! Benoit makes the cover and pins
MVP to retain the title at 9:20! Benoit really clicked with MVP,
bringing him up to his level, and the result was a really good
little match. I would have loved to see this go another five-ten
minutes, ***1/4.
Winner and still United States Champion: Chris Benoit

Backstage, Donald Trump is on his cell phone, bad mouthing Mr.
McMahon and complaining about the lack of hospitality he's been
getting. He is then joined by the Boogeyman. He tells Trump that
he's going to get him, but Trump just wants a sandwich. He promises
Boogeyman some worms. Boogeyman offers a worm sandwich. This was
better than letting Boogeyman on the card again.

The show takes a break to look back at the Hall of Fame induction
ceremony. This segment eats up several minutes, but it is cool
seeing some of the legends who aren't usually around.

World Heavyweight Championship:
Batista © vs. The Undertaker
Theodore Long is in the ring to do the introductions. Batista comes
out to a mixed reaction and jogs to the ring. That's awful dangerous
for a guy like Batista. Let's face it, no one really wants Batista
to be the one to end Undertaker's streak at Wrestlemania. Undertaker
has his druids make their annual appearance, as they pose on the
stage with torches. Some pyro goes off and Taker's music hits.
Undertaker gets a tremendous reaction from the fans, I probably
would have had this match go on last had I been the booker.

Batista spears Undertaker to kick things off. Batista pummels Taker
into the corner. Taker grabs Batista and throws him into the corner
and fires away with his own strikes. Batista reverses the corner and
hits some aggressive shoulder thrusts. Batista whips Taker into the
opposite turnbuckle and hits a clothesline. The brawl spills into
the ringside area and they exchange shots. Batista whips Taker into
the steel steps and returns to the ring to break the count. Batista
drags Taker back to the ring and goes high risk. Batista hits a
flying clothesline! Color me impressed. Batista hits some strikes,
runs into Taker's boot, and hits a big clothesline for a near fall!
Batista hits some more shots and gets a power slam. Undertaker
blocks a shot and hits several jabs to Batista's gut. They exchange
shots again, with the crowd responding favorably to Taker's strikes
and negatively to Batista's. Undertaker gains control with his
corner splashes, snake eyes onto the turnbuckle, and running kick to
the head. Undertaker gets a drop kick and a near fall. Undertaker
goes for "old school" and hits it perfectly. Taker signals the
Chokeslam, but Batista blocks it. Batista gets some hard shots, but
Undertaker knocks him down again for a near fall. Taker hits some
jabs, knocking Batista to ringside. Taker knocks Batista's head into
the steps and drapes him on the apron. Taker does his elbow to the
jaw, kick to the head, and leg drop off the apron spot. Batista
stumbles to his feet, while Undertaker hits a flying dive over the
ropes onto the floor! Both men are down for several seconds, but
Taker keeps control, throwing Batista around the barricade. Batista
reverses an Irish whip, and sends Undertaker crashing into some
chairs by the announce table. Batista makes sure to break the count-
out, but keeps pummeling on the fallen Dead Man.

Batista dismantles the announce table and sets Taker onto it.
Batista climbs onto the table and hits a running power slam through
the opposite table! WHOA! Batista drags Taker to the ring for a
cover, but it is only a near fall. Batista aggressively continues
pummeling Undertaker. Batista is clearly angry now, which is
awesome, and goes for the Batista Bomb. Taker pushes him into the
corner and hits elbow shots. Batista counters a whip and hits a
belly to belly suplex into another near fall! Batista corners
Undertaker again and gets some turnbuckle shots. Undertaker counters
into the Last Ride! Batista barely kicks out of the following cover!
Batista comes back with a power slam. Undertaker ducks a clothesline
and hits the Chokeslam! Batista barely kicks out! Undertaker then
goes for the tombstone, but Batista escapes and hits the spear!
Batista hits the Batista Bomb and the streak appears to be over!
Undertaker kicks out at the last possible second! Batista goes for
another bomb, but Undertaker counters! Undertaker misses a
clothesline, and Batista goes for what looked like a snake eyes.
Undertaker then traps Batista and hits the Tombstone Pile Driver and
covers him for the victory at 15:47! This match was beautiful, it
was Taker and Batista having a 15 minute fight with no dead spots.
Batista was vicious here, something he should try being more often,
because this match surprised the hell out of me, ****.
Winner and new World Champion: The Undertaker

Backstage, Vince McMahon is admiring himself, and Stephanie brings
in her baby to visit grandfather. Vince coos the baby in a rather
creepy fashion. Vince promises to bash in Donald Trump's head.
Stephanie isn't very amused by this, as she feels he is scaring the
baby. We see this from the baby's perspective, by the way. Vince
then sniffs and claims the baby took a "Trump." Well, that was
certainly different.

Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, and Sandman vs. Elijah Burke,
Marcus Cor Von, Kevin Thorn (with Ariel), and Matt Striker
Well, this match features seven guys I would have never predicted
making it to this card, so huzzah. The ECW Originals make their
entrance through the audience, gaining a very favorable reaction
from the fans. This match is not extreme rules, which makes no
sense, but whatever. Striker and Sabu start the match, with Striker
getting a hard shot, but soon suffers some springboard offense by
Sabu. Sabu plants Striker on the ropes and tags in Sandman, who hits
a big leg drop! Sandman goes for the cover, but Cor Von breaks it
up. Tag is made to Burke, but he runs into an arm drag. Dreamer is
tagged in, and they double team Burke. Burke reverses an Irish whip,
sending Dreamer into Cor Von's boot. Cor Von tags in and dominates
Dreamer in the corner. Hard Irish whip into the turnbuckles by Cor
Von and an overhead belly to belly suplex. Burke tags in and he and
Cor Von back body drop Dreamer. Burke hits the Elijah Express on
Dreamer and goes for the cover, but Sabu breaks it up. Thorn tags in
and keeps control of Dreamer with a chinlock. Dreamer fights out,
but Thorn thrusts him to the corner. Dreamer gets a boot up, but
gets caught with a sit-down powerbomb cover, with Sabu making the
save again. Cor Von tags in and hits a nice suplex into a cover on
Dreamer. Dreamer kicks out, and gets trapped into another chinlock
by Cor Von. Dreamer escapes into the ropes and reverses a suplex. He
ducks a Burke clothesline and hits a combination neckbreaker/DDT on
Burke and Cor Von. RVD and Striker are both tagged in, and RVD
cleans house. RVD quickly goes top rope for a frog splash on
Striker, but ends up kicking Kevin Thorn instead. RVD hits a big
monkey flip on Striker, to some huge face heat. RVD connects with
rolling thunder on Striker, but is pulled out of the ring by Cor
Von. Sabu leaps off the ropes onto Cor Von. In the ring, Dreamer
gets a DDT on Striker, but is jumped by Burke. Sandman joins the
fray, falling to the floor. In the end, RVD hits the five star frog
splash on Striker and pins him at 6:28. This really should have been
extreme rules, but it worked anyway. The ECW guys celebrate how far
they've come, and bask in their Wrestlemania victory, **.
Winners: Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, and Sandman

Luckily, the hype package for the "Battle of the Billionaires" isn't
included on the copy I am watching. I get straight to the match.

Battle of the Billionaires:
Bobby Lashley (with Donald Trump) vs. Umaga (with Vince McMahon and
Armando Alejandro Estrada)
Guest referee: Stone Cold Steve Austin
Umaga charges, but Lashley stands his ground. They exchange shots,
and Lashley gains the advantage. Austin pulls Lashley off a cornered
Umaga, demanding a break. The distraction, allows Umaga to gain a
kick and whip Lashley to the corner. Umaga misses a splash, and
Lashley delivers a flying shoulder block. Lashley goes for the early
cover, but Umaga's foot is placed on the ropes by Estrada. Lashley
dumps Estrada into the ring and hits the running power slam. Estrada
is thrown out of the ring by Lashley, who then ducks in time for
dodge a rampaging Umaga. Umaga hit the floor hard, that was a hell
of a bump! Umaga quickly gets up anyway and returns to the ring to
exchange shots with Lashley again. Lashley gains the upper hand
again and charges, but this time Umaga side steps and Lashley
suicide dives to the bare floor! That was another impressive bump.
Umaga drags Lashley to the ring, hits a splash, and gets a cover
attempt. Umaga then resorts to choking, but Austin ends it. Umaga
chokes again anyway, and Austin needs to pull him off by the hair.
Umaga stares Austin down too long, and Lashley tries to mount a
comeback. Umaga drops Lashley with a clothesline. Umaga methodically
stomps and splashes Lashley. Lashley tries to mount another
comeback, but Umaga stops him with a Samoan drop. Lashley attempts a
power slam, but falls under Umaga's weight and is almost pinned.
Vince hops up on the apron to try and give orders, but Lashley
knocks him down. Umaga hits an inverted DDT on Lashley. Umaga goes
high risk, but Lashley throws him off the turnbuckle. A large
portion of the crowd is booing Lashley, just thought I would mention
that. Umaga and Lashley are both down, so Austin starts counting,
but stops before ten.

Meanwhile, Shane McMahon runs in to check on his dad. In the ring,
Lashley and Umaga are finally on their feet again and are brawling.
Umaga takes control and corners Lashley on the ground. Austin hooks
Umaga's eyes to force him to break, Shane leaps up to argue, and the
distraction allows Umaga to hit Austin with the Samoan Spike! The
crowd is not happy about this and lets Umaga know it. Shane starts
getting shots in on Lashley, but gets caught in a bear hug. Umaga
saves Shane from the beating, and they drop Lashley back into the
corner. Running ass shot by Umaga. Vince tosses a trash can in the
ring, and they set it up on Lashley so Shane can do the Van
Terminator. Shane connects with the high risk move and takes his
shirt off to reveal a ref uniform underneath! Umaga goes high risk
and hits a splash. The cover is interrupted by Stone Cold, who drags
Shane to the floor and destroys him. Austin returns to the ring and
is hit with another Samoan Spike from Umaga. Vince is talking trash,
finally prompting Trump to tackle him! In the ring, Umaga tries
another Samoan Spike on Austin, but misses and eats a stunner!
Lashley hits the spear and Austin delivers the three count, giving
Lashley the win at 13:03! This was overbooked nonsense, but it was a
lot of fun, **3/4.
Winner: Bobby Lashley

After the match, Shane eats a couple of stunners from Stone Cold.
Vince tries to crawl away to avoid losing his hair. He waves goodbye
and tries to exit, but Lashley grabs him and carries him to the ring
over his shoulder. They force Vince to feel Austin's bald head. Wow,
they are being mean about this, eh? Austin hits the stunner on
Vince. They finally dump Vince into the barber seat, which give me
hope that we'll never have to see one on Raw again. Vince and
Lashley take razors and start shaving away. Someone with a sense of
humor starts playing "ball headed blues" over the house speakers.
This goes further than I thought it would, as Lashley spreads
shaving cream over Vince's head, they are getting every last hair on
his head. When they are finished, Stone Cold gives Trump a stunner
too. Why? Because he's the rattle snake, bah gawd, who knows when
he'll strike! Lashley attends to Trump, though I wouldn't want to
help someone who called me "Bobby Lindsey."

WWE Women's Championship:
Lumberjill match:
Melina © vs. Ashley Massaro
Pretty much all of the divas in the company are serving as
Lumberjills. Ashley doesn't have London and Kendrick with her, as
Melina is without Johnny Nitro. They lock up and Ashley gains the
upper hand. Melina flees to ringside, but is quickly tossed back in.
Melina recovers and chokes Ashley with her boot in the corner.
Ashley reverses the cornering and chokes Melina with her boot as
well. Melina then chokes Ashley on the ropes and then spins her
around by the legs. Ashley hits the mat hard, and escapes a cover
attempt. Melina delivers a rather nice modified bow and arrow
submission spot. Ashley escapes and fires away with forearm shots.
The sloppiest monkey flip ever by Ashley. Ashley goes for the elbow
drop, but Melina dodges and gets a close fall. Ashley rolls up
Melina, but Melina counters and bridges into a roll-up of her own
for the win at 3:13. Well, this was disappointing, even by Ashley's
standards, but Melina's submission hold nudges this up to ¼*.
Winner and still Women's Champion: Melina

After the match, the lumberjills trap Melina in the ring with Ashley
and a huge diva brawl breaks out.

HBK and Cena get a nice hype package for their match. HBK makes his
entrance and doesn't get the monster pop I was expecting him to get.
Cena's entrance is pretty elaborate, with pre-taped footage of a car
speeding recklessly into Ford Field. The car breaks through a glass
Wrestlemania 23 sign, and Cena steps out, having suffered no serious
injuries. Since this is Wrestlemania, there is a huge portion of
fans here to boo Cena.

WWE Championship:
John Cena © vs. Shawn Michaels
A fan leaps into the ring before the match starts, and is quickly
escorted out. HBK waves to the fan as he's escorted out, which is
pretty funny stuff. The bell rings, but HBK stalls by sitting on a
turnbuckle, acting like he doesn't care about the match. HBK offers
Cena a handshake, but Cena doesn't want to, seeing as he was just
super kicked on Raw. HBK slaps Cena instead and knocks him down. HBK
taunts Cena DX-style, and the match finally begins. Side headlock by
HBK turns into an armbar. Cena reverses and HBK blocks a suplex. HBK
ducks some shots from Cena and knocks him down again. They back into
their separate corners, and the match restarts. Cena is beginning to
realize that he is in big trouble with this title defense. They lock
up again, and HBK wrenches Cena's arm and hits some shoulder
thrusts. HBK swings Cena into a side headlock. Cena fights to his
feet, but HBK whips him back down without breaking the headlock.
Cena gets to his feet, pushes HBK into the ropes, misses two
clothesline attempts, but finally connects with a third try. HBK
goes down hard, and the crowd boos Cena heavily. They take a
breather, and Cena soon runs into a Lou Thesz press. Cena dumps HBK
onto the apron, but HBK drops Cena neck first on the ropes. HBK then
hip tosses Cena over the ropes to the floor! Knife edge chop by HBK
and an enziguri. HBK then hits an Asai moonsault off the ropes onto
Cena, landing on the table! HBK directs Cena back to the ring and
hits more punches and chops. Irish whip into the turnbuckle with
authority by HBK, but Cena blocks a rampaging HBK. Cena is knocked
down again.

HBK decides to target Cena's left knee. HBK aggressively swings the
knee into the ring post. Cena uses the ropes to stand up, but HBK
tackles the knee. HBK continues to work the knee, taking a break to
hit the occasional chop. The referee even bothers to ask Cena if he
can continue. HBK chops Cena into the corner, but Cena punches him
away. Michaels tackles Cena in the corner, who is still acting like
he cannot stand. They exchange chops and punches, with the crowd
showing favoritism towards HBK. HBK tries another tackle, but Cena
dodges, with HBK hitting the ring post head-first. HBK is busted
open! Cena then stops selling the leg and hits a clothesline and
repeatedly punches HBK on the mat. Shoulder block by Cena and
suplex. Cena considers selling his knee for a second, but reminds
HBK that "you can't see me." Five knuckle shuffle by Cena. Cena goes
for the F-U, but HBK escapes and hits a chop. Cena sends HBK into
the turnbuckle. HBK goes for the Sweet Chin Music, but accidentally
takes out the referee instead. Cena goes for the F-U again, but HBK
counters with a DDT. HBK is angry now and pulls Cena to ringside and
positions him for a piledriver on the steps. He actually hits the
move too! HOLY SHIT! I can't believe Cena took that bump! HBK drags
Cena back to the ring, and Cena is bleeding from the back of his
head now. Another referee runs in for a cover, but Cena somehow
kicked out! HBK is furious now, and goes high risk. HBK connects
with the elbow drop and signals Sweet Chin Music. Cena charges with
a clothesline, knocking HBK down before he can deliver the kick.
They barely make it to their feet and exchange shots. Cena then
catches HBK in an F-U position, but HBK counters and rolls Cena up,
but only gets a two count. HBK shoots Cena into the ropes, and Cena
catches him and hits the F-U at long last! Cena is slow to get the
cover, and HBK kicks out.

Cena plants HBK on the top turnbuckle. Cena tries to F-U HBK off the
top, but it's blocked. HBK throws Cena to the floor and HBK flies
off with a flying crossbody. Cena catches him and rolls him into
another F-U. HBK blocks by landing on his feet. Cena looks for the
STFU, but HBK blocks. HBK gets an inside cradle, and Cena barely
kicks out. HBK misses an enziguri, and Cena locks on the STFU. HBK
must appear to be superhuman and is trapped in the hold for a long
time before making it to the ropes. The ref scolds Cena for being
reluctant to break the hold, giving HBK a chance to strike with the
Sweet Chin Music! HBK slowly gets the cover, and Cena kicks out at
two. Both men are down for several seconds, but use each other to
prop themselves to their feet. Cena tries for the F-U, but it is
countered, so Cena locks the STFU on again! HBK finally taps out at
28:22! John Cena has retained the WWE Championship at two
consecutive Wrestlemania's! Aside from the nonsense with the working
the knee in the early going, this was an awesome match, especially
the final ten minutes when either man could have easily and
convincingly gone over at any moment, ****1/2.
Winner and still WWE Champion: John Cena

After the match, Cena humbly celebrates his title defense and is
close to tears. Cena asks HBK for a hand shake, but HBK blows it off
and leaves. Cena salutes him anyway.

The closing video package plays, a fitting tribute to a great show.

Final thoughts: My initial thoughts to the results of this show was
that it wasn't as good as it could have been, but that was far from
true. With three matches making it to the **** mark, this is one of
the best pay-per-views I've seen and probably the best WWE show
since Vengeance 2005. Everything on the card either lived up to the
expectations or exceeded them, making this a worthy Wrestlemania.
The entire show had a big time feel to it.

Heavily recommended.
