So right now Raw and Smackdown are both promoting Pay-Per-Views.
Raw has announced Taboo Tuesday, where fans get to choose opponents
for Triple H and Chris Jericho. Nice trick by WWE, as now fans can't
vote for Jericho to face Triple H, which would have been the likely
match.
Besides that, the only announced match for Taboo Tuesday thus far is
Eric Bischoff vs Eugene. While this makes sense due to the
storylines going back as far as April, this really isn't a match to
be counting on to draw a nice buyrate. I'm not really expecting
Taboo Tuesday to be a success for a few reasons.
1) It's on a Tuesday.
2) It's going to be more difficult to build for this show, since
some opponents probably won't be known until the last minute.
3) It's possible the voting will be worked by WWE and the votes
won't matter.
Either that, or it will look like this:
Who should face Triple H for the title?
a) Randy Orton
b) A-Train
c) Chuck Palumbo
d) Stevie Richards
See my point?
On the more positive side, Smackdown has done a pretty decent job of
building up No Mercy. So far, six matches have been announced.
WWE Championship: JBL vs The Undertaker
Big Show vs Kurt Angle
Luther Reigns vs Eddie Guerrero
Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree vs Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio
John Cena vs Booker T
Paul London vs Billy Kidman
This is actually a show I think I would enjoy watching.
London/Kidman has the potential to be excellent (given the chance)
and the rest of the card should be solid enough. Big Show is capable
of being carried by Kurt Angle, and Luther Reigns is a pretty solid
hoss, so those matches should be fine.
It will be interesting to see if Bradshaw can escape with the WWE
title. It still amazes me everytime he's in the main event of a pay-
per-view, I stop and think "Wait, that's Bradshaw!"
So ends the thoughts.
