Heeey, talk about having a PPV where the winners and losers aren't
totally easy to call? Vengeance is a totally Evolution-driven show,
but that's just fine by me. The PPV starts in a little over an hour
and only six shows have been booked (unless that changes on Heat, I
might go watch) but I wouldn't count on it, as we could see a
potentially very long match in Chris Benoit vs Triple H.
World Heavyweight Championship: Chris Benoit (c) vs Triple H.
If WWE is smart, Benoit will retain. HHH needs to go off to film a
movie sooner or later, and while he's gone, Raw is going to need
other established stars besides him. Raw has been much more fun and
exciting since HHH lost the title to Benoit, and I don't want that
to end either. I just hope WWE agrees with me.
Predicted Winner: Chris Benoit
Desired Winner: Chris Benoit
IC Championship: Randy Orton (c) vs Edge
For the record, I love Randy Orton as IC Champ. He's the best
champion in years, and I'm not ready to see his reign end.
Furthermore, Edge looks to be preparing a feud with Triple H, so I'd
say his feud with HHH would NOT be for the IC belt, so look for
Orton to retain.
Predicted Winner: Randy Orton
Desired Winner: Randy Orton
World Tag Team Championship: La Resistance (c) vs Ric Flair and
Eugene
This match should be a comedy classic, but that will depend on how
over Eugene is with the live audience after what he did to Benoit on
Raw this week (even though he appeared to feel bad about it). I can
definitly see potential angles if Flair and Eugene were the champs,
but I feel like WWE did a lot to build up La Resistance as credible
tag champions, so this is another case of a title reign that I'm not
ready to see end.
Predicted Winners: Ric Flair and Eugene
Desired Winners: La Resistance
Chris Jericho vs Batista
I think this one will steal the show. Batista has come so far in his
work-rate, and Jericho works well with larger workers. Jericho has
been on a serious role lately, and has regained most (if not all) of
his past face popularity with live crowds. Jericho should win here
and let his momentum continue.
Predicted Winner: Chris Jericho
Desired Winner: Chris Jericho
Victoria vs Molly Holly
This match was just made this week and doesn't really have any real
point other than to have a women's match on the PPV. The women have
seemed really unmotivated lately, so I'm not expecting the usual
goodness that we used to get out of Molly on a regular basis. I'm
guessing that Victoria wins here to carry on the momentum so she can
challenge Trish Stratus for the women's title once she's healthy.
Predicted Winner: Victoria
Desired Winner: Victoria
No Holds Barred: Kane vs Matt Hardy
This is going to be one ugly match, and I say that because it's well-
known that Matt Hardy has been needing knee surgery for a while now.
This match will either be a squash (I hope not) or it will be a
garbage match that will have Hardy dishing out offense that won't
aggrivate his knee. Either way, Kane is definitly winning. Whatever
happens, I just hope that WWE realizes that Lita's pregnancy angle
has eight months left, so they shouldn't try to hot-shot anything in
this storyline.
Predicted Winner: Kane
Desired Winner: Kane
So only six matches? That's about on par with Bad Blood, which ended
up having six long matches. Then again, Great American Bash only had
six official matches announced and ended up doing eight. Anything
can happen, I guess. I must admit, I miss the days when PPV cards
were announced well enough in advance. Gave me something to look
forward to.
