I just watched most of Unforgiven (I missed the first few matches, I
tuned in halfway through Kane vs Shane) and I must say that this was
easily the worst PPV of the year. This made Badd Blood look like
Wrestlemania. This made Wrestlemania look like... well... Super
Wrestlemania!
Goldberg vs Triple H
Not as bad as expected and actually pretty solid. The crowd was dead
and chanted boring. Triple H did a lot of stalling and Goldberg no-
sold a sledgehammer shot. That sort of killed the match for me, as
Goldberg pinned HHH about 30 seconds later.
Grade: C
Coach and Snow vs King and J.R.
This was a complete waste of time. There were no commentators at
all, which was an improvement. The highlight was Coach
screaming "Not in the face" while J.R.was pummeling him.
Grade: D-
IC Title: Chris Jericho vs Christian vs RVD
The first half of this match was complete crap. RVD's heart wasn't
into it and it was slow and sloppy. There were a few cool spots that
saved the match in the second half and Christian retained which made
me happy.
Grade: C+
Kane vs Shane McMahon
Shane took one of his famous high elbow drop bumps. Kane moved out
of the way and Shane didn't get up by the count of 10 so Kane won.
This was a terrible finish as far as Kane's push goes. Shane
dominated Kane throughout the match, and Kane only won by fluke.
This would have been better if Kane had powerbombed or chokeslammed
Shane off the scaffold (or whatever the fuck that thing was, it was
clearly just set up so Shane could jump off of it). This was
entertaining garbage throughout though.
Grade: B-
The other results were:
Test def Scott Steiner
Lita and Trish Stratus def Molly Holly and Gail Kim
Randy Orton def Shawn Michaels (I heard the finish was bullshit)
Dudleys def La Resistance and Rob Conway
So that's it... I heard that HBK/Orton was pretty solid, except for
the finish. HBK had Orton pinned, except Orton's foot was placed on
the ropes by Ric Flair. Then Flair tossed a pair of brass knuckles
to Orton, to knocked HBK out with them. Makes me wish Regal.
