Yeah, from looking at the pics I noticed that Teddy Hart did
resemble the other Harts (I thought he resembled Davey Boy Smith a
bit more, but that's probably due to his hair). Either way he
sounded awesome, and I'd love to see if he could help TNA expand
their audience some.
I haven't seen much Japanese wrestling, but I have seen a few tapes
this summer, mostly about Hayabusa. I was totally won over though,
and I got new found respect for Mike Awesome from watching his match
with Hayabusa and from watching an ECW Title defense against Masato
Tanaka. The fans were very appreciative, I really feel stupid to be
an American wrestling fan. I bought an XPW show the other night, and
Vic Grimes takes one of the nastiest bumps I've ever seen (it makes
Mick Foley in HIAC look somewhat tame). The crowd was thrilled to
see it, but I was cringing. Grimes fell off the top of a 40 foot
scaffold, landed shoulder first in the corner of a stack of tables,
his legs bounced off the ropes, and that sent him sailing back into
the pile of tables head first. I guess it's remarkable, but I'm not
sure how he was doing health-wise afterwards. He was laying
motionless, and his opponent (New Jack) climbed down to taunt him.
It was one of the scariest bumps I've ever seen in wrestling.
Other scary bumps? Mick Foley in almost all of this PPV matches 1998
and on, AJ Styles giving Frankie Kazarian a botched Styles Clash,
Brock Lesnar's botched shooting star press at WrestleMania, and
Perry Saturn delivering an elbow drop even with a torn ACL.
Of course I marked out big time for the Saturn elbow drop, that was
just plain classic.
