Yep, last night I ordered WWE Bad Blood (with some friends, no way
in hell would I be willing to cough up 30 bucks to watch wrestling
on tv, I'm cheap) and I have mixed emotions about the show.
Let's start...
Dudley Boyz vs Rodney Mack and Chris Nowisnki
This match was pretty meh. Nothing special happened, but the
potential D-Von turn was SORT of interesting. Let's just hope he
doesn't take religion up again.
Grade: C
Scott Steiner vs Test
Steiner tripped when he jumped off the apron to attack Test, and he
fell right on his face! It was the funniest thing that happened all
night. The crowd forgave Steiner and this wasn't a bad match. Test
looked good, and remarkably so did Steiner. Steiner wins and this
probably means the feud is over and Test now has nothing to do.
Grade: B-
Kane and RVD vs La Resistance
Bla... good, now that Kane and RVD aren't tag champs and don't like
each over maybe they can resume regaining their dignity.
Grade: C+
Christian vs Booker T
This was by far the most disapointing match of the night. Horrible
DQ ending when Christian nailed Booker with the IC title. The match
itself was good, yet short. I was looking forward to this match
quite a bit so this pisses me off. I was hoping for a Christian
victory, because if Booker T had won, then Christian's second IC
reign would have simply been him losing.
Grade: B-
Goldberg vs Chris Jericho
This is one of the better matches Goldberg has had in his career. I
was all amused by the crowd chanting "Y2J" and there were a
few "Goldberg sucks" chants. Isn't it great how the fans don't go
along with what the Raw roster wants them to think? Ha ha. Anyways
Goldberg gets the predictable win, but not until selling big time
for Jericho. Good match :)
Grade: B+
Steve Austin vs Eric Bischoff
The Redneck Triathlon took way too much time away from the rest of
the card. The burping contest wasn't too bad because it was a
backstage segment, but I think everyone could tell that the "pie
eating" contest would result in some Mae Young grossness. And we
were all right. Mae Young (in a lingerie thong) gives Eric Bischoff
the bronco buster and then gets a crappy stone cold stunner. Yeah,
great way to keep Austin over as a face... have him attack a
defenseless old woman. I think that was probably one of the worst
things I've ever seen (the stunner AND especially the bronco
buster). Finally, the triathlon ends when Austin throws Bischoff off
the ramp into a pig pen. That part was kind of cute, I like pigs.
Grade: B-
Ric Flair vs Shawn Michaels
Here was another really good match. The highlights included the
traditional figure four leglock spots and Shawn Michaels diving from
the top rope onto Ric Flair who was lying on a table. HBK looked to
be in so much pain after that move, I was afraid that he might have
seriously screwed up his vulnerable back. Looks like I was wrong, I
hope. End comes with Randy Orton screwing HBK, looks like we could
see those two meet at Summerslam (assuming Orton doesn't get injured
again).
Grade: A-
Kevin Nash vs Triple H
This wasn't a bad match at all. Not going to go down as one of the
great Hell in A Cell matches, but they did the most they could do.
Lots of fake (and some real) bleeding involved. Kevin Nash looked
good in this match, and by the end I was really cheering him on to
beat Triple H. After applying Mr. Socko on Triple H, Mick Foley
eventually counts the three count and names Triple H the winner...
again.
Grade: B+
Not a bad PPV, not a great one either. This was pretty good
considering it was the Raw brand only. There was a good promo for
Vengeance next month, and I'm expecting a lot more from that PPV.
Even Big Show and Mr. American wn't be able to screw that one up.
