D'Lo Brown spoke today with the No Holds Barred radio show for the
first time today since being released by the WWE with the and below
are the highlights from the interview.

He opens the interview by asking Jason and George if they are down
with the brown and they respond by informing him they loved
the "Down with the Brown" gimmick but they buried his previous work
before hand. D'lo says he respects them for being honest to their
audience.

He was completely surprised by his release from the WWE. He
mentioned he drove with Teddy Long from San Diego to Los Angeles and
they discussed ideas for the gimmick and he was then brought into
the office at lunch time once he arrived in L.A and was informed at
that time that they wouldn't be using him once his contract expired.

D'Lo jokes that he has saved his money wisely and said that he had
held some preliminary talks with the company about his contract
situation before being released but nothing was ever put down on
paper.

He mentions that wrestling is similar to a soap opera when it comes
to having talents take over a previous character's role. In the case
of Rodney Mack playing the same gimmick he says he hopes he does
well and can take the character to the next level.

He feels some of his gimmicks didn't get over because they really
weren't him. He adds that when he was with the Nation of Domination
it worked because it was a reflection of him but when he played the
mini-me pimp or formed Lo-Down with Chaz and Tiger Ali Singh it was
too weird and people didn't see the point of it. He finished off the
statement by saying that wrestling fans preferred D'Lo being himself
and by the time he got back to being himself people had forgotten
who he was.

D'Lo says that the idea for the Nation of Domination was created
about 3 months prior to him joining the company and it is one of his
favorite times in the business. He refers to himself as the "Bowtie
Guy" who was always standing in the corner keeping to himself and as
his role expanded he became really happy because he was working with
some of the greatest guys he's been associated with.

On the topic of his greatest accomplishment in the business, D'Lo
says it is without a doubt his position as the first person to ever
unify the Intercontinental and European titles. He says he was given
a big responsibility to carry that moniker and is grateful that he
was given the opportunity to do so.

It took him a good 6 months before he was able to be himself in the
ring following the injury to Droz and he said after it happened he
started thinking about what moves he wanted to do instead of just
letting his instincts take over. He also added that he hasn't done
the running powerbomb since the injury and he won't do it out of
respect.

D'Lo says he made the right move to leave the broadcasting booth and
return to the ring but said he would like to return to broadcasting
in 5 years when his body can't hold up physically.

He said that Triple H's comments to the company about having him
return as a talent on Raw were a huge compliment and he really
appreciated him doing so.

He says that he and Chaz were very different in style and the Lo-
Down team didn't blend well because they were put together to give
them something to do. He also joked about walking down the streets
of Poughkeepsie with his wife and having people they knew ask him
why he was pretending to be Arabian. He says it was not a very good
time for him in the business.

When asked about Tiger Ali Singh's accusations of racism in the
locker room, D'Lo said Tiger took too many things too personal and
his current lawsuit against the company is ridiculous. D'Lo added
that he spent 7 years in the WWE locker room and there was no sign
of racism at all.

Today is the last day of his contract and as of tomorrow he can
legally start talking to other companies. He states that he has been
informed thru friends that some promotions are interested in him and
he expects to receive a bunch of calls regarding future
opportunities starting tomorrow. He says we have definitely not seen
the last of D'Lo Brown.

He hopes that the WWE isn't bitter regarding his previous flirtation
with WCW and doesn't think they would be since they signed him to a
3 year deal afterwards and kept him around. He feels he was let go
simply because of business being down.

D'Lo said he enjoyed his time in the WWE and the only regret he has
is that he wasn't able to say goodbye to everybody. He mentions that
Vince McMahon was the greatest boss he's ever had and he hopes to
work for him again down the road and he now looks at the future as
the next chapter in his career.

He jokes with the hosts and says if they had talked to him 3 years
ago they wouldn't be killing him on the air today. He asks what
there reason was for burying him and Jason adds that he didn't care
for the Lo-Down angle and remembers when he was being used as a
sacrificial lamb with Shawn Stasiak for 3 Minute Warning and simply
felt that he was never given enough time with his characters to
develop a following. D'Lo agrees and says that in his opinion the
WWE used his character in the wrong way at times and wishes he
would've had more success when he returned to full time duty.

Jason jokes with him about naming his tag team with The Godfather -
"The Pimp Daddies" - D'Lo says he loves the idea and thinks they
could have sold tons of t-shirts and even offers a little bit of a
twist by naming the duo the "Poughkeepsie Pimp Daddies".

D'Lo closes out the interview by advising wrestling fans to write
off everything when it comes time to do your taxes.

D'Lo was a very gracious and down to earth guest and was able to be
open, honest and handle criticism as well as praise. To hear the
entire interview visit www.noholdsbarredwrestling.com - The No Holds
Barred radio show airs every Sunday night from 9pm-11pm EST on 101.5
WPDH.
