PHILADELPHIA- Ring Of Honor introduced the Code Of Honor to insure
the best athletic wrestling based on respect with clear winners and
losers. The Code Of Honor has become one of the most talked and
written about items of 2002. After producing seven highly acclaimed
shows, Ring Of Honor finds it necessary to modify the Code Of Honor
as blood feuds become more prevalent in ROH.
Ring Of Honor has a goal to present wrestling as a sport, not sports
entertainment. In order to achieve this goal, ROH will be based
around this Code Of Honor, which is made up of five Laws Of Honor.
These five Laws Of Honor are intended to promote sportsmanship,
respect and honor inside the wrestling ring. The Laws Of Honor will
allow ROH competitors to produce the most athletic matches possible.
These are the sacred rules that will define Ring Of Honor's product.
The Laws Of Honor are:
-Competitors must shake hands before and after their match.
-No interfering in matches or having others interfere on your behalf.
-No harming a referee or causing others to harm an official.
-No sneak attacks.
-If you are disqualified in your match, you have broken The Code Of
Honor
However, some matches are not about respect, honor and sportsmanship.
Some matches are about settling a heated issue. Some bouts are about
hatred and just trying to hurt you adversary. As the issues in Ring
Of Honor get more intense, ROH will present more gimmick matches
centered on blood feuds. The Code Of Honor will not apply to these
matches.
Ring Of Honor's huge first annual Glory By Honor event on October 5th
at the Murphy Recreation Center just five blocks from the ECW Arena
in South Philly (215-891-9404, ROHwrestling.com, RFVideo.com for
tickets, bus trip info from NYC & Boston, directions or anything else
you need to know about the show) will feature three bouts where the
Code Of Honor does not apply.
These are matches between men with an issue and matches with the sole
purpose of trying to get revenge. On October 5th you will see Low Ki
battle The Prophecy's hired assassin Samoa Joe in a Fight Without
Honor. Rudy Boy Gonzalez will attempt to finally shut up Steve Corino
in a Texas Death Match. Falls will count anywhere as Da Hit Squad
take on The Carnage Crew.
In the future any bout labeled as a grudge match or with a violent
stipulation will not be expected to adhere to the Code Of Honor. The
rest of the matches on October 5th will have to follow the Code Of
Honor to insure the best in ring action going in the United States
today. The rest of the lineup has:
Doug Williams vs. Dick Togo with the winner facing Chris Daniels in a
respect match; Paul London vs. Michael Shane vs. Spanky with the
winner getting the Show Stopper nickname; ROH champion Xavier vs. Jay
Briscoe in a non-title match; James Maritato vs. Tony Mamaluke with
the FBI gimmick at stake; The Amazing Red vs. Ikuto Hidaka in an
international dream match; Natural Born Sinners vs. SAT vs. Divine
Storm vs. Special K in a tag team scramble; Joey Matthews, Christian
York & Alexis Laree vs. Christopher Street Connection & Allison
Danger in mixed tag team action plus more!!!
Will this show follow ROH's more traditional style or will we see
more "Unscripted" action like we did on September 21st? Either way,
you won't know what's coming next as Ring Of Honor continues its high
standard of producing top quality shows on October 5th!!!
