MTV has decided not to air the fourth episode of Wrestling Society X
next week due to issues with their "standards and practices"
division. The issue that seems to be the problem is that one of the
matches featured Ricky Banderas throwing a fireball at Vampiro's
face. MTV approved the stunt prior to the taping of the episode, but
after seeing it on tape, has decided not to air it due to concern
over kids replicating the stunt at home. The fireball angle was one
of the main angles on the show which is why the entire episode is
being pulled. An episode of "Scarred" will air in WSX's place next
week.
Meanwhile, ratings for MTV's original programming is down across the
board and the entire network seems to be in a state of flux right
now. Therefore, parent company Viacom has fired tons of MTV
employees and closed down several of the network's departments.
Included among those fired was Paul DeBenedittis, the main person at
MTV responsible for getting WSX on the air there and the main person
responsible for scheduling it against ECW.
At this point, MTV has paid for the entire season of WSX and the
show is scheduled to return on 2/27. Whether any of the behind-the-
scenes changes going on at MTV will impact that remains to be seen.
WSX has fallen in the ratings each week thus far, doing a 0.5 rating
last week.
