First four names announced for ROH UK Tour
It was exclusively revealed in today's Daily Star who the first four
stars for the Ring of Honor UK return tour would be. Patrick Lennon,
in this fighting talk column, announced 2 brand new ROH stars and 2
favourites from the companies debut tour back in August last year.
The first four names announced are:
Samoa Joe
Mark Briscoe
Jay Briscoe
Delirious
"Samoa Joe is a huge signing for this tour" said promoter Alex
Shane. He continued "I was the first promoter to bring Joe to the UK
back in 2003 so I'm well aware that he's been here before but there
really is nothing like the authentic ROH Samoa Joe. The ROH version
has seen him have his match of the year with Kenta Kobashi, the
amazing series with CM Punk, his recent classic with Bryan Danielson
and so many more modern day masterpieces particularly while he was
ROH Champion. Fans in the UK, who think they have seen Samoa Joe
live, think again because the authentic ROH Samoa Joe makes his UK
debut on March 3rd and 4th.
The Briscoe Brothers were the stand out stars of the first ROH UK
tour. Having the match of the night both evenings the Briscoe's
clearly came to the UK to impress. Their impressive ways have
however not stopped since returning to the US, now making them one
of the current corner stones of the entire Ring of Honor promotion.
Mark and Jay return to the UK for the first time in March and fans
in Liverpool are promised to be brought to the edge of their seats
once again by arguably the worlds most exciting tag team in the
current wrestling scene.
March also sees the Ring of Honor debut of Delirious to UK shores.
The masked man has become one of the most popular figures in ROH and
is set to bring his crazy brand of wrestling to Britain for the very
first time this coming on the company's second trip to Liverpool.
More names will be announced in the coming weeks in association with
the Daily Star's Fighting Talk.
Ring of Honour returns to the UK
America's top independent promotion Ring of Honor, in association
with the King of Europe Cup 2007, is proud to announce its second UK
tour weekend on Saturday March 3rd and Sunday March 4th 2007. After
the massive success of its first UK tour back in August, ROH will
fly its entire cast and crew overseas to bring European wrestling
fans even closer, once again, to the most innovative pro wrestling
product in the United States today.
The original plans were to run two venues over two days, one North
and one South of the country. Unfortunately an error by one of our
venues forced us to move our arranged trip backwards one day. This
lead to us having to rethink the dates that we had previously
announced during our last two UK events. Upon review of the last
tours ticket orders it became clear to us that over 65% of our fans
who travelled to our last Broxbourne Civic Hall event had also
attended Liverpool Olympia the night before. After heavy discussion
we decided that rather than make those fans travel the entire length
of the UK we would take a lead from our brand new sponsor the KOE
Cup 2007. Therefore ROH will present two straight nights of action
back to back from the prestigious Liverpool Olympia.
Tour organiser Alex Shane said: "After the huge success of the last
tour we really wanted to see what we could do to make this tour
better for our fans and wrestlers alike. Broxbourne is a great venue
but due to its size we had a problem with it selling out so fast
that many of our fans could not get tickets. With this being the
case we decided that even though we will certainly look forward to
returning to the Broxbourne Civic Hall in the near future we can now
make sure that fans who want to see ROH have a far higher chance on
both days with 3,200 tickets being available over the two events.
With so many of our fans from the last tour travelling to both it
made sense to make life easier for them and do two straight nights
much like the KOE Cup"
ROH promoter Cary Silkin added: "Everybody involved with the company
loved the Liverpool Olympia so much when we were there back in
August that we decided it really has to be the UK home for Ring of
Honor. Even though we had a great sized crowd there is still room
for improvement. We believe that by doing two nights back to back in
the same building we can put all our efforts into making Liverpool a
complete success whilst giving the fans two amazing shows in one of
England's most impressive wrestling venues."
ROH find new UK sponsor in the KOE Cup 2007
ROH is proud to have the King of Europe Cup 2007 as its official
sponsor for their March 2007 UK tour. The KOE Cup is the world's
biggest two day independent wrestling tournament featuring
representatives from 16 world wide promotions. The event takes place
on Saturday April 28th and Sunday April 29th from the Liverpool
Olympia. Ring of Honor is one of the main companies in the KOE Cup
tournament and management are working extremely hard to select the
best possible representative for this extremely important event.
