This looks like one of the better Raw pay-per-views of the year, at
least on paper. Let's take a look at the line-up.
TLC match for the WWE Championship: Edge (c) vs. John Cena
This is a tough one to call. On one hand, Edge is doing well as
champion, and there's no real reason to take the title away from
him. On the other hand, WWE doesn't think enough of Smackdown to
send their biggest star there, which is what would happen if Cena
loses this match. I'm going to go ahead and predict that Cena gains
the victory and his third world title.
Desired Winner: Edge
Predicted Winner: John Cena
Hell in a Cell: Triple H and Shawn Michaels vs. Vince and Shane
McMahon, and the Big Show
This match will probably end up being a fun one, even if I am sick
and tired of the McMahon presence on television. The trend with the
DX comeback is that DX always wins at the pay-per-view, which is a
big potential selling point for the group. However, there are
indications that the DX revival will continue throughout the fall,
so to keep things going, it is about time that DX lose on pay-per-
view. I'm calling for a McMahon victory, though I have no real
preference or interested invested in this feud.
Desired Winners: Big Show and McMahons
Predicted Winners: Big Show and McMahons
Intercontinental Championship: Johnny Nitro (c) vs. Jeff Hardy
As unreal as it may seem, Jeff Hardy is going to win this one. For
starters, Hardy has caught on with the crowds, even after a three
year absence. Secondly, I believe Nitro has heat on him over the
really boring press conference that he and Melina put on Raw a few
weeks ago. That, and Nitro has been the IC Champion for three
months, which seems about long for someone that the WWE isn't really
serious in pushing any higher.
Desired Winner: Jeff Hardy
Predicted Winner: Jeff Hardy
Randy Orton vs. Carlito
Carlito has been upset lately over his lack of a main event push,
and this is a step in the right direction, as Orton has been an
established main eventer for two years. However, Orton is hurting
from the job he had to do for Hogan at Summerslam. Realistically,
Orton needs a victory here more than Carlito does. It won't hurt
Carlito too much, as Orton will probably cheat or something.
Desired Winner: Randy Orton
Predicted Winner: Randy Orton
Kane vs. Umaga
This one is pretty simple. Umaga's whole push is based on him being
undefeated. Kane's whole career seems to be jobbing to the freak of
the week (see Gene Snitsky, fake Kane, etc). I don't think Umaga is
going to squash Kane by any means, but Kane is not winning this one.
The only way I see Kane getting the victory is if Ric Flair gets
involved and causes Umaga to suffer his first lost.
Desired Winner: Umaga
Predicted Winner: Umaga
Women's Championship: Lita (c) vs. Trish Stratus
So this is the ultimate blow-off to the long standing Trish/Lita
rivalry, as well as the send off for Trish. Since Trish is leaving,
I could see her winning the title to either vacate or retire it. It
would be a real bummer if Lita won, in a mark sense. Also, Lita is
reportedly on her way out too, so it would make sense for the title
to end up going vacant so that Mickie James or Beth Pheonix could
take it in a tournament.
Desired Winner: Trish Stratus
Predicted Winner: Trish Stratus
World Tag Team Championship: The Spirit Squad (c) vs. The Highlanders
Oh man, I really hope the Highlanders win. The Spirit Squad have had
the belts since freaking April, and haven't done anything with them.
It is time to kill the Spirit Squad gimmick, and see what Ken Doane,
Johnny Jeter, and Mike Mondo can do on their own. Sadly, I don't see
this happening for a bit, so the Spirit Squad will retain.
Desired Winners: The Highlanders
Predicted Winners: The Spirit Squad
And that's that.
