It's been a while since I did pay-per-view predictions, so here we
go.
Spirit Squad vs. D-Generation X
There is a feeling going around that this may headline the show,
which is funny to imagine. While Triple H and Shawn Michaels are
established main eventers, the Spirit Squad are mere midcarders (and
I'd only say Kenny has really stood out thus far). This would lead
me to believe that a DX victory is inevitable, which is fine by me.
Predicted winners: DX
Desired Winners: DX
2 out of 3 Falls: Mick Foley vs. Ric Flair
WWE must've been reading my NWA game over at Da Wrestling Board.
Anyhow, this should be a good one, even if Foley is bragging
about "dogging it" on television and stinking up the joint. It is
really hard to tell who would win this one, but I'd say Foley
probably needs a victory more than Flair does.
Predicted Winner: Mick Foley
Desired Winner: Mick Foley
Intercontinental Championship: Shelton Benjamin (c) vs. Johnny Nitro
vs. Carlito
This is another tough one to call. I like Shelton Benjamin was IC
Champion and all, but I think Carlito would be better served with
the belt right now, especially if they are serious about making him
into a top face. I'd predict that Nitro isn't in line for a singles
title yet and is in this match to do the job.
Predicted Winner: Carlito
Desired Winner: Carlito
Umaga vs. Eugene
I'm surprised this was added. Since Eugene is pretty much a jobber
now and they have been serious about pushing Umaga, I'd have to say
it's going to be Umaga gaining a quick victory.
Predicted Winner: Umaga
Desired Winner: Umaga
John Cena vs. Sabu
Recent reports have stated that Vince McMahon wants Cena to be
protected the same way that Hogan and Austin were in their days.
Also, since Sabu is an ECW star, it makes him the true underdog in
the match. This leads me to believe that Cena will come out
victorious, and if he does lose it will only be because the entire
ECW roster will be there to act as lumberjacks.
Predicted Winner: John Cena
Desired Winner: John Cena
Kane vs. Fake Kane
The obvious winner is seemingly Kane, since I don't think anyone
could really get over playing fake Kane. That is, unless, Fake Kane
is unmasked and turns out to be someone significant. Then again,
Kane tends to do odd jobs early in feuds (see Snitsky). In the end,
I can't see Kane losing this one.
Predicted Winner: Kane
Desired Winner: Kane
Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton
This is disguised as an interpromotional match, even though both men
were Smackdown stars mere weeks ago (and it's all WWE either way).
This will probably even things out with an ECW star (Angle) going
over the WWE star (Orton). Besides, Orton is injured again, and will
probably not be up for a full blown match anyways.
Predicted Winner: Kurt Angle
Desired Winner: Kurt Angle
WWE Championship: Rob Van Dam (c) vs. Edge
I'm really tickled that this match is headlining a pay-per-view
(unless it foolishly goes to DX). RVD winning the WWE Championship
was a delightful surprise, but I have a feeling it's going to end
here and Edge will become a two time champion. That is okay with me,
as I really dug Edge as champ the first time around and was sad when
it came to an end after only three entertaining weeks.
Predicted Winner: Edge
Desired Winner: Edge
And that's that.
