Italian hares, Italian fashion, Italian taste. October brings
something completely different.
With at least 5 Italian hares setting this run, most of hashers are likely to find their way back to the finish in the mountains near Cixi, Zhejiang province. The run site is close to Ningbo and is in the same area that the Taiping Hash visited in July.

The hares report that the trail includes views of lakes and verdant hills with bamboo forests and waterfalls. The long run is about 90 for front runners. There will be a short run.
More importantly, the restaurant review: "It's a nice place in the forest. The building is wood and the food is great! (We tested the menu!) ? The place reminds us of Palladio, but food is local Zhejiang and it is somewhat cheaper. The interior is brighter though."

Taiping Hash, August 23
The Taiping Hash ventures this month to a scenic mountain somewhere
near Suzhou.
There will be magnificent views of Tai Hu lake, with shrimp farm nets
blowing wistfully in the cool breeze and the masts of myriads of
concrete river boats glistening in the August sunshine, await those
who venture the short trip to Guang Fu. There'll be monastic havens
of idyllic quiet, hill top houses with lakeside vista, large ancient
pots filled with poo and some dense shiggy you could shave you legs
with all along the way.
The hares promise a short and long split; a choice of beautiful
trails with a maximum length of 11-12k on the long run. Circle up
lakeside to enjoy the shore breeze, some Guang Fu fighting (a bit
like Kong Fu fighting but with words) and then soak a camera or two
as we take a dip in the lake. The bash is in a palatial restaurant,
the top dining experience in Guang Fu, that will be serving huge
mounds of succulent local delicacies and copious quantities of ICE
COLD Snow beer.
Please respond if you wish to go.
And please include your name.
The Details:

The Taiping hash is returning to the Hangzhou area, but this time in
an area rumoured to be virgin hashing territory. Plus, there will
feature a unique European-themed twist, to delight and baffle.
The hares, Master Wanker and S Cubed, will lead an A to B hash
through quintessential Chinese countryside. The route passes colorful
Chinese temples, tea plantations, a shaded valley, and even offers an
excellent opportunity for bird-watching.
But there is more! June's Taiping Hash will be Wacko Jacko's last
hash in China, so with this in mind, the hares have prepared a
slightly surreal but marvelous European ending - to help reorientate
our dear friend to western culture.
Cuisine will be Chinese (so no need to fear an excess of so-called

Taiping Hash, April 19
Maybe you think you have seen everything there is to see in the
Suzhou mountains? Just wait until you come to Taiping's April Hash
on April 19.
Wooly Bush and Puss Eye bring you the ultimate hashing experience.
They have hunted down the best in picturesque flora and fauna,
history and culture, to bring you a day to remember.
You will breathe the fresh mountain air in a mix of natural
countryside and the well-tended Sunzi Gardens. You will gallop
through bamboo groves, leap over fallen trees, skip through farmland,
trot through the formal gardens and scamper through the local
villages. You will be honored with the opportunity to pay your
respects to Sunzi & learn about the Art of War.
The run will be A to B, with no walking split; there was no way we
could cut any of the run out and let you miss any of it. FRB's: 60

Taiping Hash, March 15
This month's hares will be leading you to a beautiful new area
recently opened to the public on Dongshan overlooking Taihu Lake.
(Dongshan is a peninsula in Taihu Lake south of Suzhou, and is the
place we went in August on an extremely hot day and finished at a
bash place on the lake.)
The hares report that this month's A-B run has just the right
distance with options for both runners and walkers. The trail
follows beautiful mountain streams and pine forests, and passes by
bucolic pastures and ancient Tang Dynasty temples with amazing views
of craggy mountains and an endless fresh water sea.
You can take a little break at the golden temple to join the locals
in a celebration of ancient mating rituals. Once you have been
dazzled by the spectacle it will be time to head down to the
recently restored Han Dynasty trading trail to the circle and feast.
The recently re-elected GM Male Pattern Baldness will delight one
and all with his zany high jinks and colorful stories.
We will be dining in style in a recently restored Tang Dynasty Royal
Barge not normally available to the public. The world renowned chefs
will tempt us with the best in Chinese cuisine all washed down with
ice cold nectar.
The hares also report that Dongshan is one of the thousands and
thousands of places in the country that claim it is "home to the
most beautiful women in China."
The bus travel time from The Grassy Knoll from Hongqiao is an
alleged 70 minutes.
There is also a long/short split. FRB's on the long: 90 minutes.
Walkers on the short: Under 2 hours.
Important: For this run, and all future Taiping Hash runs, we will
take a maximum of two buses. As a result, priority will go to
regular hashers and others who help make these runs possible.
Please respond to this email if you want to go. We will confirm if
there is space.
The April run is scheduled for April 19 in Xitang, which is also in
Jiangsu province somewhere near Suzhou. The hares are Woolly Bush
and The F Wife.
Any question? Please call 13918533716.

The 13th plenary session of the 44th meeting of the standing
committee of the Taiping Hash recently unanimously re-elected Male
Pattern Baldness as grandmaster.
"Some hashers kept calling for `change, change, change,'" said
M.P.B. "But we've seen the tragic result of having a grandmaster who
had neither the experience nor the wisdom to manage our hash. We
cannot let that happen again ... I'm ready to lead from Day 1, or at
least after a couple more runs."
The standing committee also tentatively approved a September run in
southern Anhui province where the villages on the UNESCO World
Heritage List are located.
In the spirit of building a harmonious hash, the standing committee
unanimously elected each other to the following positions:
GM: Male Pattern Baldness
Joint GM: 96
Trailmaster: Camel
Deputy trailmaster: B.E.C.
Whip: Johnny Wad
Whip: Buttcracker
Hash Cash: Puss Eye
Spiritual Advisor: OJ
Beer ayi: Nadia
Deputy beer ayi: Free Entry
Hash rent girl: Wooly Bush
Logistics coordinator: Jennifer
Minister without portfolio: Domestic Violence
Hash SOB: No Balls
Taiping Hash, February 16
This month, the Taiping Hash heads to the recently-opened Shanghai
Binjiang Forest Park, which is at the tip of Pudong above
Waigaoqiao. The park is at the confluence of the Huangpu and Yangtze
rivers and the ocean. The park is a huge former plant and tree
nursery, so the running and trails are quite good. The run will also
take in some neighboring farmland and villages.
The run is A-A, starting from the bash location, which is a rustic,
charming farmhouse.
The run should be around 70 minutes. There will be a few checks.
The run location is close to the end of the new subway line 6. Thus,
the bus will not stop in Hongqiao, at the Portman, or in Lujiazui.
The bus will make only two stops: in Jinqiao and at Gangcheng Road
Station. This station is at the end of the Line 6.
The trains on line 6 apparently don't run all that frequently, so
give yourself some time to get to the regroup location. If you are
running late, you can still go to Jinqiao to get on the bus.
We will take only one bus. Please respond to this email if you want
to go.
A co-hare with minimal duties is needed. Please advise if you can
help.
Any question? Please call 13918533716.
The Details:
Date: Saturday, February 16
Location: Shanghai Binjiang Forest Park, Pudong
Time: We estimate the run will start at 2 p.m. We plan to start the
bash by 6 p.m., maybe earlier.
Times for the bus and regroup:
12:30 p.m. Pudong, Jinqiao Starbucks, 633 Biyun Road, by Carrefour
1:00 p.m. Gangcheng Road Station, Line 6
Hares: No Balls, Son of No Balls, Helios, and a mystery hare.
Cost: RMB150, maybe cheaper.
Taiping Hash¡ªUpcoming Run
The February run should feature the shortest bus ride in Taiping Hash
history.
The run will be on Saturday, February 16. The route should include the
new Binjiang Park, which is northern Pudong where the Huangpu River
enters into the ocean. If all goes according to plan, the bus will pick
hashers up from the end of Line 6 up in Waigaoqiao to go to the run
site.
The run may also include some ancestor worship at the Taiping memorial
in Gaoqiao, where Taiping martyrs were buried in 1862 after a Frederick
Townsend Ward-led force of running dogs and British and French sailors
crushed the Taipings' third attempted invasion of Shanghai.
More details to follow.
Taiping Hash, January 19
This month, the Taiping Hash is headed to the lovely mountains of
Suzhou at the Mudu Mountain Conservation Park.
The three female virgin hares promise to deliver a day of true
variety, with stunning views of Mudu Valley and Taihu Lake, exotic
pagodas, traditional villages, tea plantations, and a mixture of
shiggy and dirt trails.
The bus ride is allegedly a mere 75 minutes from Hongqiao.
The run is a short 11K, so there will not be a long/short split. FRBs
should finish in approximately 75 minutes and walkers should finish
in about 2 hours.
The upscale bash will be at the recently-opened Lakeview Restaurant,
which features traditional Suzhou cuisine at reasonable prices.
