what have the irish contributed to the world?" stew; potatoe

Not only that, but just look at how many hashes, "fun" runs (a
verbal contradition if there ever was one), and races there are in
conjunction with St. Patrick's Day. The runs go on for several
weeks, which means they either need Immodium or a big cork. Our
Polish Constitution Day Hash is the only running event held in
conjunction with Polish Constitution Day.
In case you've heard of the Run for Poland, that's in Sept., but
since the retired CPD Lt. who ran it recently died, I don't know if
this race will continue.
The Irish dye the Chicago River green, thereby contributing to the
already green stuff in the River. On the other hand, the River
hasn't been red since the Ft. Dearborn Massacre.
The Polish Parade takes off on Saturday at 11:30 a. m. The Stanley
Stawski Distributing Company, the nice folks who provide us with the
free keg of Okocim Beer, will have their float and trucks in the
parade (#115). They line up on Columbus Dr. south of Balbo, so stop
by and say hello after the Run to Remember. The Polkaholics will
not be on their float this year, because one of the band members
broke his heel, so they will have another band there. Also on the
float will be Miss Polonia (the Nationwide one, and not merely the
Chicago one).
After the parade (2:00 p. m. - 8:00 p. m.) will be
http://polandonthepier.com/. Stawskis will be serving the beer
there. While there is no price for admission, the beer is $6.
Again, say hello to them.
Now for the Hash, as previously stated, we will have the chalk talk
promptly at 7:00 p. m. CDT. Wear you Okocim shirts from previous
years or something else that's Polish (with the exception of
anything that relates to a competitor's beer). The price of the
hash is $1 for those who are eating the buffet ($8.49 + tax) and $6
for those not eating.
On-On!
