Cheverly Green Infrastructure Plan Public Forum
Date/Time: Wednesday, November 12, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Location: Cafeteria, Judith Hoyer Early Childhood Education Center, 2300 Belleview Ave, Cheverly, MD
Calling all Cheverly Residents! We need your input to develop the best Green Infrastructure Plan for our community! Please join us for the first public forum on the Cheverly Green Plan.
The event will feature speakers from The Conservation Fund, Prince George's County National Capital Park & Planning Commission, and the Chesapeake Watershed Assistance Program. They will discuss what a green infrastructure plan is and how it can benefit Cheverly, and Prince George's County green infrastructure initiatives. The meeting will include an interactive mapping exercise for residents to provide input on the historical, economic, cultural, recreational, and ecological assets of Cheverly that should be considered in developing a green plan unique to our community.
The goal for the establishment of a Cheverly Green Infrastructure Plan is to preserve, conserve, restore and sustain the natural environment of Cheverly and surrounding areas as an intact and healthy ecosystem through a community participatory process that balances the fulfillment of human needs and protection of the natural environment. Attend this public forum to contribute to and help guide future development, redevelopment, and investment policy decisions in Cheverly and to support proactive and sustainable actions in our town.
The Cheverly Green Infrastructure Committee meetings also are open to the public and we welcome participation. The Committee meets the first Monday of each month from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Cheverly Community Center at 6401 Forest Road. Additional subcommittees address a variety of issues related to the plan including science, tree canopy, land management and green buildings, storm water management, financing, and outreach and education. We welcome Cheverly residents interested in participating in these groups as well.
