Hey Steph, I don't think you sounded rude at all, and
I'm sure nobody was offended by your opinion. I like it
when everybody says what they think, whether I agree with
it or not. That's what keeps a forum interesting! Please
don't stop saying what you think...
I agree with you on most of the things you said. I was simply
stating that I don't think anyone thinks about what their Olympic
status and/or friendships with Olympians can turn out to be when they
start posting things like that.
If anyone was offended, I apologize. It wasn't meant to be rude. I
just thought it was OK for me to voice my opinion, just like everyone
else here does.

When people post comments in MySpace about their personal
relationship, it takes away from their privacy a lot more
then posting in this forum. MySpace is one of the most
visited Web sites on the Internet.
As far as whether or not Chad fans should post comments
and questions about his romantic relationships in this
forum... Here's my opinion: This forum is for all types
of Chad Hedrick fans, from speedskaters who want to
emulate his skating style to teenagers who just think
he is a hot guy. Fans will always speculate about the
romantic status of their favorite. If Chad realizes his
dream, and becomes a famous actor, his personal life will
get a lot more scrutiny then the "is he single or not"
discussions in this forum.
I'm not surprised that the two MySpace pages disappeared.
I have been expecting that to happen since we started
hearing about Chad possibly appearing on the next
Bachelor TV show. Bachelor fans would not take him
seriously if they could read in MySpace about his latest
adventures with his girlfriend at the same time he was
suppose to be falling in love (or not) with one of the
bachelorettes on the show.
Perhaps they want some privacy about their relationship. When people
post here what each is writing, it takes away from that.

That's unfortunate they took down their sites. What a whole whopping
at most 50 people might have looked at their sites? It is kind of
interesting to see how people present themselves on a personal level.
And to the personal note I got about speculating on his "single"
status. It is completely harmless... and a topic of conversation the
same as talking about who Lindsey Lohan or Jessica Simpson is dating.
I don't know these people, and can only form opinions based on what I
have heard, read or seen. Besides, I can't imagine Chad reads this, or
for that matter cares what some anonymous person may speculate about
his dating life.
I believe this is a Chad Hedrick Forum, and until he is skating
again... it might slide to personal topics and such.
I have notoced too. I think he's the next bachelor and he had to do
that because of some rules. Last time hi wrote in his profile about
his status that he is swinger Chad. What ever that means.

OH POO!!! I went to the wrong sports complex. Watched the Astros
game instead at Minute Maid all of less than a mile away from
Toyota. If I had only known earlier... Just Kidding V! I would
have still gone with you to the ball game instead. Though I do miss
hockey. Wish they (Aeros) were still across the street instead of
downtown.

Theres women groupies and men groupies. It comes with every sport. But I might
add that SS has some pretty reserved and great groupies not out of control or
rude. Its nice even when your a nobady and competing, that bell lap rings
they're the loudest cheering section. But all in all on really only during
Olympic years is it bad Unless there Dutch those fans are nuts 24/7.

In the latest issue of US Weekly they report that Chad is in the
running to be the next Bachelor on the ABC hit show. A rep from ABC
said, "We don't comment on casting." I don't know what to believe,
but it does make me think he is single.
I totally agree, and I can't count the number of times I've heard him
say that World Records will come and go, so he knows this will
happen. In addition, when you have the men skating like they have
been this season, was it any big suprise that three WR's fell?
Personally, I thought the 5K record was going to fall, too. That was
the only suprise for me.
The other thing is this. I think people tend to overlook the fact
that #1 Chad is a human being and #2 he's only been on ice for almost
four years because of his successes. I've been told by coaches, and
even elite skaters, that it's common to forget to change lanes in the
beginning years. It's just that Chad is at such a high level that
it's so publicized, and none of his competition does it. After all,
most of them have been doing this for the majority of their lives.
Am I saying it wasn't silly? Not at all, but you have to be
realistic about it, too.

I've been asked to explain my remark, since
some thought he lost "only" two world records
on Sunday. But in speedskating you don't only
have the 500, 1000, 1500, 3000, 5000, 10000,
but also the glorious (full) allround record,
the point-sum combination for 500 + 5000 +
1500 + 10000. Chad had the WRs for 1500,
10000, and allround before this weekend,
and on Sunday he lost all three. Skaters
Davis, Fabris, Kramer and Ervik all came
in below Chad's former allround record,
and of course Chad would have done so too,
if he hadn't messed up the lane-change
and gotten himself disqualified. Earlier
this season he has lost world records in
the 5000 (to Kramer) and the 3000 (to Ervik).
Mr Hedrick is a unique guy, of course:
even the way he lost three world records
in a single day is a "world record".

Davis, Fabris, Kramer and Ervik all came
in below Chad's former allround record,
and of course Chad would have done so too,
if he hadn't messed up the lane-change
and gotten himself disqualified. Earlier
this season he has lost world records in
the 5000 (to Kramer) and the 3000 (to Ervik).
Mr Hedrick is a unique guy, of course:
even the way he lost three world records
in a single day is a "world record".

that's a worldrecord too - btw. I read in some dutch paper that Chad was
heading for a new worldrecord on the 10 K - 12.47. I'm quite sure he would
have made it. Yes, I know: too late now and let's not waste energy with
should'ves and could'ves. Ennyway his big smile was back and hopefully I'll find
the link for you to show his reaction.

Subject: [chadhedrick] how to lose three world records in one day
I think Chad Hedrick is the only person
in hundred years of speedskating history
who has lost three World Records
in the course of one day. This happened
yesterday, and would have happened even
without his faux pas disqualification.
I wonder what this does to his motivation
and work attitude.

I think Chad has always known he has competition, and that's why he
works so hard.

Thanks to everyone who posted info on what happened! I appreciate it.
At least now he can relax a bit and take time for himself and come
back strong next season :)

Chad forgot to change lanes, he took the innerlane again when he had to take
the outer one. It was after 3000 meters, he jumped over the line but it was
too late. It is really a stupid mistake.
