Am I the only Celtic fan beginning to think the prawn sandwhich
mentality is starting to kick in at Parkhead.
Yes the backing at Champions League/UEFA games has been immense and
I for one will look back on these magical nights for the rest of my
life.
But some of the league games the atmosphere is so muted its
unbeleivable maybe because the league was won so early a lot of the
tension was taken away but even before the league race was over it
was as if we just blatanly expected a win, and if things weren't
going well the fans would get edgy and sometimes this was
communicated to certain players.
OK the likes of Partick Thistle at home on a dreary Saturday
afternoon is hardly as inspiring as Barcelona in the UEFA cup but hey
surely we still pay our money to watch it so why not give all our
support for the team. You can see it quite clearly when the crowd get
going SO dO THE PLAYERS, we shouldn't be waiting for the players to
do something spectacular, and theres no better feeling than being in
the crowd in full voice cheering the celts to victory.
I think maybe a lot of us are being spoilt with the success the team
is having at the moment, and I think its important for the managers
and players efforts to be fully supported this is a good time in
Celtics history and you never know when the bad times could return so
lets enjoy it to the max, your club needs you fellow bhoys!!!!!
Walk on

I Totally agree an MON has a great tallent for taking average players from
nowhere an making them into great players. an as the saying goes u got to
speculate to accumilate, but agin as has always been the case THE BOARD wont
commit the funds.

But questions have 2 b asked about the clubs finances with the size of the
stadium an the crowds we get week in week out an our HUGE WORLDwide fan base an
the money spen on jersies an other mercahndise where is it all going?

Bhoys an Ghils we need answers.

on the subject of Replecements for the new bound barca bhoy how about JFH form
that russian cokney london team. he's proven quality in my mind a great new
addition coz NO ONE WIL EVER REPLACE THE KING OF KINGS

With Henrik Larsson leaving the club that has left a massive void who
is going to score the 40 50 goals a season Henrik usually does.
I can't help but feel the board seem more concerned with balance
sheets and think well everythings ok why change it?
That attitude is ok if keeping the club on sound financial footing is
paramount and in the current financial climate cannot be
underestimated however I feel now is acritical time in Celtic
history. In Martin O'Neill we have a brilliant manager who I feel is
capable of landing Celtic the Champions League, you cannot
underestimate how far the guy has taken the club in such a short
space of time and it would be criminal if we lost the guy because the
board could not match his ambition.
When was the last time Celtic signed a proven international? John
Hartson it was and it was over 2 seasons ago and you cannot argue the
guy has repaid his value with some important Old Firm and European
goals. I find it unbeleivable that a club of Celtics stature and
support base cannot attract international players, and I don't think
these necesarily come at exorbitant prices look at Euro 2004 when the
Czech Republic reserves beat the Germans now surely the club can
attract the likes of Czech league top scorer Marek Heinze who looks a
cracking player and surely his wages wouldn't cripple the club these
guys want to make their name in other European Leagues, rememeber who
ever heard of 33 year old Lubo Moravcik when we signed him,he was
already past his best but still good enough to become a Celtic legend.
I would love to see the club return to my fathers days of competing
regularly in Europe and winning the top European competitions the
club is so well backed the fans deserve it and surely with a European
League a realistic possibility born from the Champions League within
the next 5-10 years the club must be doing everything to stay in the
forefront of European competition.
At least Alex McLeish has been given the funds to secure the signings
of two established internationals in Boumsong and Prso and that from
a Rangers board aware of the massive debt the club is in. time will
tell whether these two will be good players for Rangers but at least
they recognise the calibre of players required to improve their
squad.
The fans have begun to taste a return to those heady days under
O'Neill and I for one would rather see the club move heavan and earth
to recapture those days than stay concerned with staying ahead in a
tin pot part time league fuelled by religious divide and sectarianism
which is surely the future for the SPHell. The future of Celtic FC is
not any serious danger I would like to think the support is such that
if the club were in serious financial dissaray a Fergus McCann could
be found but I feel the club may be missing out on a turning point in
its history by lacking ambition remember after the Lisbon Lions the
club went into serious decline and no one wants to go back to the
days of the early nineties due to mismanagement at board level.
Thanks for reading this if u didn't get bored, welcome views of
fellow bhoys!!!!

The following week after Rangers secure the treble season 02-03 Alex
McLeish is taking his players for a final training session.
During training McLeish can suddenly hear crying, suddenly wondering
where it comes from he asks his players.
"Whose crying is it you Fernando has that big bhoy Alan Thompson hit
you again"
"Naw boss I telt my mammy Hugh Dallas on him he'll no dae that again"
says Fernando Ricksen
Ronald De Boer looks up from his ticket to Qatar to say ' I think its
coming from inside the stadium boss, ah ma knee ya @!!%$£ its injured
again boss'
"Aw pit that ticket away dye know think yeh worked yer ticket here
long enough" says McLeish
So McLeish heads into Ibrox and can hear the crying even louder, he
pokes his head round the boardroom door and sees Dick Advocaat and
says.
"Here Dick yev no been battering Michael Ball again huv ye ?"
"NO I HAVENTZ" says Advocaat " I THINKZ EET IS COMING FROM OUR NEW
CABINET ROOM HERR McLEISH"
"Our new cabinet room?" says McLeish
"YES IVE SPENT 12 MILLIONZ ON EET, EET IS MADE FROM ZA FINEST
NORWEGIAN VOOD FROM AN ANTIQUES STORE IN ZA CHELSEA"
"No change there then DICK" says McLeish
So they both head along to the cabinet room they poke their heads
around the door and they can see the League Championship Trophy, The
Scottish Cup and the CIS cup crying their eyes out.
"Whats up wi you three " says McLeish
"WE WANT TAE GO HAME!!!!!!!!!" say the three trophies

I think liam makes a valid point, I honestly think there was a
sectarian issue involved in henrik leaving, you could see at the
dundee utd game henrik obviously loved the club, and I think
money wasn't an issue as he was making enough at celtic not to
worry about that. But having kids myself I could see why he would
worry about his son attending school in Glasgow and its just a
shame that because of misguided imbeciles on both sides of the
divide the club has lost one of its best ever players to a pub
team like Barcelona!! Being a Celtic supporter does not mean
supporting sectarianism and having a Rangers fan as a nagging
wife I should know. I've tried to convert her but shes not for it!

I think you should lay off Marshall a bit considering he's
still learning he was a hero in Barcelona and at 20 years old
you cant ask any more feel a bit sorry for Douglas too everyone
remembers goalies mistakes and not there saves I still remember
his save at Anfield from Steven Gerrard that kept us on the way to
     Seville.

Do fellow fans really think Celtic should be pursuing Nacho Novo as a
replacement for Henrik, no disrespect to the guy whose a smashin
player but can you really see the guy scoring regularly at Champions
League level. Also I cannot beleive the cheek of the guy as he seems
to be using Celtic as a pawn trying to work his ticket to Ibrox is he
really the kind of character we want at the club who clearly dosen't
understand the life an Old Firm player is subjected to. In a time
when Celtic team spirit and commitment seems endless do we really
want a chancing money grabber working his ticket at the club. I say
give to the Gers as he would fit in-with the DeBoers of this world!!!!

especially with the advent of Celtic gaining an automatic place in
the Champion's League and the prospect of adding Rivaldo and Amoroso
to the club. But his final desicion to leave us, involves his
family's best interest also.

Yo Liam,
The tight pocketed Celtic Board is not the reason for Henrik Larsson leaving.
All the money in the world could get Henrik to stay. The main reason that he is
leaving us is that Henrik's young son is set to begin formal schooling in the
fall and he doesn't wish to subject him to all the sectarian problems in
Glasgow. Believe me if it were only up to Henrik he would have stayed at
Celtic, especially with the advent of Celtic gaining an automatic place in the
Champion's League and the prospect of adding Rivaldo and Amoroso to the club.
But his final desicion to leave us, involves his family's best interest also.

Good points...I just wish we had the money to buy more than a couple of quality
players. I do agree that or goalie situation is not the best but I seriously
doubt the money will be available for both a striker and a wold-class goalkeeper
for a bit. I think keep working Marshall is the best bet in that department, he
will just get better, I think. As fat as the brazilians....welll....They both
would be good to have but the wage bill is soooo high I think it would hurt our
transfer money for the next few years....note also that neither player has been
activly playing as of late. Hard to justify 90,000 a week for that.

You are so right about O'neil...if the Board dosent release the funds for him to
strengthen AND deepen the hoops, I won't be very long before he heads south or
over the channel. I soooo don't even like to think of that!

I have faith in O'Neil as long as the Board realses so funds I know he will pick
the best prospects for the good of the team.

Hail! Hail!

Well Douglas, I hate to say it, is not good enough.
He's a great guy and I feel sorry for him, but I we
need a world class goal keeper. We need a keeper that
will make saves like Marshall did against Barcelona,
but every week. Marshall has played well, but he has
still made a few silly mistakes in every other game.
I don't know how many times he has kicked the ball
straight out of the park. IMO, he is better than
Douglas, but I would like to see Celtic bring in
   another keeper.

As for Robbie Keane, I don't think he's good enough.
I believe there are far better players out there, and
some which may cost a lot less. I don't like Riordan
(or however you spell it) but I believe he'd be a
better player than Keane, and I definately don't want
to see Riordan come to Celtic.

I would like to see both Amoroso and Rivaldo in the
Green and White Hoops, but I seriously doubt them
both. Martin O'Neil was not overly impressed with
Amoroso, but then again he is aware that he is still
unfit, hence why he has asked him to come and join
Celtic on their American tour. I think he may be
playing him down, until he is aware of his budget, as
in spending money and wages available.

He will be spending more on wages, after the Cup Final
Match, where he will be signing up Bobo on a 4 year
extension on much higher wages, and I'm glad, as he is
worth it. He is on of the most valuable players at
Celtic. Likewise, he will be trying to sign up Neil
Lennon on a longer contract, John Kennedy (which I
think he should may wait till we know whether he is
going to play again) Hartson, and also Ross Wallace.

My only concern is, if Mr O'Neil is not given the
wages he requires, then he may tell them where to
stick it. He cannot built a Champions League winning
side, a UEFA cup winning side, or even possibly a
League winning side, unless he is given sufficient
funds. We need a striker definately, and there are a
few other positions that need strengthening. Fingers
crossed though, that the board will provide Mr O'Neil
with the cash, and we can go on to make an even bigger
impact on Europe, which we all know is plausible!!!
