"Tullamore’s Shane Heffernan wins silver medal in Special Olympics" (thats
our Bhoy, showing the Celtic Spirit in China!!!!!!)


There were celebrations for Tullamore native Shane Heffernan at the Special
Olympics in Shanghai last week when he claimed silver in the long jump
competition. Shane, who is originally from O’Molloy Street, also finished fifth
in the 200-metre run with a time of 00:27:86. He was also part of Team Ireland’s
4 x 4 replay team who crossed the line in eighth position. Shane was supported
at the games by his father Kevin, while his mother Collette was on tenterhooks
back home, awaiting news of her son’s performances.
