OK folks...I think it's safe to say there are positives and negatives
about the new CCTH Y! "club"...and with the temporary EZBOARD that
was set up this weekend we got to see the grass on the other side of
the fence. Problem is that grass costs $$$. It's $10-12 per month to
keep the ezboard up and running. In case you haven't seen it click
here: http://pub7.ezboard.com/bcctigerhockey
POSITIVES: No ads, much better organization, better looking (the
wallpaper skating Tiger is NOT permanent). And MULTIPLE options:
http://pub7.ezboard.com/BBSUser.controlCenter?language=EN&back=
NEGATIVES : Apparently no otion to receive posts by mail...I might be
wrong on that. And $$$.
I am more than willing to put up part of the per-month to move us
over there IF...IF...there is overwhelming sentiment from YOU ALL to
do so. But I will need your help. The good new$ is "help" is
relatively easy...check this out:
http://www.ezboard.com/help/help_whatis_communitychest.html
I have activated the Community Chest Feature on the front page of the
new ezboard (it's literally a little treasure chect icon). If you
contribute to it now (I picked 3 months for starters) you will NOT be
billed unless we reach our goal. I will be submitting $5 now to show
my support for the new service. We have 30+ active members...
I'm on the fence about Y! vs. EZBOARD...but a little on the EZBOARD
side of the fence. I'm not sure how to guage sentiment other than
asking you to vote by contributing to the Community Chest account. I
GET NONE OF THIS MONEY by the way...not one red cent in any way shape
or form.
If we DO "move" to the EZBOARD I will actively persue establishing a
REAL GENUINE full blown WEBSITE (cctigerhockey.com?) that we will run
featuring photos, analysis, complete stats and recruiting/alumni
sections. Brian and I have been talking about doing this for some
time now.
So if you really want to "move" to the new EZBOARD...vote now!

Congratulations to the Tigers for winning 2 of 3 games again in
the WCHA Final Five. Several inspired seniors came through in a very
important game.
Although the WCHA coaches picked CC to win the conference (none of
the other polls ranked us highest among WCHA teams)and there is no
hardware to show yet, this season has not been a disappointment. We
are one of the best teams in the nation (beat SCSU 3 of 5, UMN 1 of
2, DU 2 of 5), won 26 games (to date) and will receive an invitation
to the NCAA Tournament.
The WCHA will not get any easier, the future is bright for CC
Tiger Hockey and this season is not over yet!
BTW...looks like we get St. Cloud in the "winners of the losers" game
tomorrow.
You folks have both made some valid points about our underachieving
Tigers and the "chemistry" (or lack thereof) which has caused it.
I'm wondering if anybody is willing to lay a certain amount of the
responsiblity on Scott and the staff. I'm NOT out to lynch the man.
I like Scott...I think he's a good coach...he's great with the
media...very personable. But isn't it the coach's job to be part-
teacher, part-motivator AND part-alchemist. He's the guy that needs
to figure out which egos need to be massaged...which personalities
respond to butt-chewing...and which pieces to put where.
Most of y'all know the in's & out's of hockey better than I do...but
today the Tigers looked like a jigsaw puzzle with all the pieces in
the wrong place. Again...I like Scott...but there have been several
times this year when I just don't think he had the boys READY to play.
Perhaps he needs more time to develop that skill...but in the
meantime, it sure sucks to be inconsistent and to get our ass whipped
by teams we oughta be beating.

More schools don't use the block plan because it is, in many respects,
a pedagogical disaster, with long-term implications for any school
that adopts it (both in terms of the physical and financial makeup of
the school). A "brilliant" way to educate? Puh-lease! It works for
some areas (e.g., field research), but is a tremendous challenge (at
best) for many of the natural sciences, and is a joke when it comes to
some undertakings (e.g., writing).
Many of the current problems at CC revolve around the block plan,
which the school is still adjusting too even 30 years after it was
adopted. Yes, students get to focus on one subject at a time, but the
block plan is mercilessly intensive in a number of respects. Alack,
this goes beyond hockey itself....

Yahoo cut off my post, obviously; should have been "criticize". Even
though these players are in good shape, it is indeed difficult to play
two full games within less than 24 hours. Is this an excuse? Don't
know. They've been up and down all year, for whatever reason. CC has
made good teams look bad in the past; and the same has happened to CC
this yea

I've heard many say they liked it better (in person, and to Jeff on
KRDO) because it's so much easier (relative!
relative!)...ok...efficient... to focus on one subject. CC is a very
tough school but don't sell the block plan as being a
detriment/hinderance somehow...I'm not buying. It's a brilliant way
to educate and I have no idea why more schools don't do it.

Crit? Crit? I've got plenty invested to "crit" thank you. I live and
die with this team 100% and will support them until they are
eliminated...but if you think I'm not going to call a spade a spade
you've got another thing coming.
As individuals I respect the hell out of 99% of the Tigers that I've
met and known...unbelievable human beings...but I'm a hothead when I
see underachievement...don't try and stop me now. I don't politely
clap when they win and I don't shrug my shoulders when they lose. Try
to understand that.
The term "chemistry" is an obvious shorthand for a constellation of
variables that come to play in any team setting, which hockey as the
quintessential team sport.
My goal for the tigers is that they continue to have fun (and
certainly winning is more fun for them than losing), and that they
stay healthy. Don't forget, these are very young men--they are not
professionals. They will make mistakes; they will have mental
letdowns; they will have bad days; they will have a variety of issues
affecting their play....and we don't see those issues. The fact that
they can play at such a high level and survive the block plan (and
graduate) is amazing, and they deserve high praise for that. Anyone
who hasn't experienced the block plan simply doesn't get it.
Despite their up and down play this year, I still have the utmost
respect for them as players and, more importantly, as individuals.
They do not exist for us, the fans; and I am thankful that I have the
opportunity to watch them play so often, and that even sometimes I get
to play with them.
Until you've walked in their boots, don't be so eager to crit

"Chemistry". "chemistry"!!! Notice how the ""? That's because that's
not the word(s) we're looking for. The words actually
are "teamwork", "work ethic", "sacrifice",
and "cooperation". "Chemistry" is one of the biggest fluff words ever
used in team sports...it literally doesn't mean a damn thing...it's
only used when a team does better than expected or worse than
expected. The word would never even be mentioned if this team had
finsished 1st (or 2nd) like they were picked. Why?
You tell me. "chemistry". Ha!
It's a lame freaking excuse...that's what it is!!!
This team needs to individually sit down and remember what each of
their roles are. We have two way defensemen trying to play like Bobby
Orr...we have shooters passing and playmakers hesitating. We have
skaters skating before they have the puck and muckers handling the
puck at center ice with their head down. And we have a very efficent
young goalie sitting on the bench while a veteran workhorse busts his
ass for the 10th time in a row against a team that has already seen
his tendancies 4 times the night before a game against one of the
highest offensive powerhouses in the league whether it be SCSU or
UM!!!
We have problems!!!
I'm not sure how you distinguish between whether a team is "not as
good as expected", or just "underacheiving". The one thing that is
most difficult to measure is team "chemistry". Even Scott Owens, at
the beginning of the year, mentioned that even with the same players,
one can't predict what the overall chemistry is going to be. The
present team, though talented at an individual level, certainly seems
to be lacking in overall team chemistry, despite the senior leadership
they have. The mental aspect of hockey is difficult to access, and
remains ever-so impor
First, I disagree that this team is not "as good as we thought".
Otherwise I wouldn't be quite THIS pissed off. I've seen alot of
hockey in my life (as most of you have) and I just know when a team
is overachieving, underachieving, or simply achieving (?). This team
is definitely underachieving.
At any rate...there is good news out of Hockey East. UNH beat Lowell
so there will NOT be a PWR upset in that league. As long as there is
not an upset in the ECAC/CCHA I think CC is in the tourney. We are
still #9 (#10 with the addition of Mercyhurst) and will probably stay
there as long as Michigan doesn't win out...and are in the tourney as
long as there isn't an upset in both the CCHA and ECAC.
Rich please correct me if I'm wrong.
Go Tigers!!!
Shucks, that's a hard game to win!
Fatigue is a convenient excuse, and certainly a factor...but dog-
gone, I don't think we could'a beaten Air Force today.
You guys are right...DU SUCKS, but they sure have played well and
probably deserve to win in the playoffs. After all, they have the
McNaughten Cup (and soon, maybe, the Broadmoor)...and we've got the
damn Gold Pan. Looks kinda trivial don't it?
Oh well...LET'S GO Tigers! Win the consolation game!! Yippee.

Yep. I knew CC was doomed when Jesse didn't convert right off the
bat. I'm not sure what Alex had in mind on that 2-1 and how Joe
missed with 2 seconds left in the 2nd I'll never know. Just wasn't
meant to be this year. And WHY all the penalties? Drive me crazy.
Good luck tomorrow...we need a win.
We must face the fact that this team just wasn't as good as we hoped.
We are in serious need of finishers. If such a stat is kept - I bet
we rank near the bottom for goals made per shots attempted.
DU sucks but they played with great consistancy for the year.

Has anyone else noticed that Jeff Sanger ALWAYS goes down on a
breakaway? He goes down faster than Paula Jones.
All of DU's shots today were high--my guess is the word is out to
shoot high.
For some reason I've been keeping track since the Badgers scored
their first goal last night...and I have now counted _7_ odd man
breakaways given up by the blueline duo of Tom Preissing of Andy
Canzanello in the last 5 periods. That's just completely inexcusable!
And what the heck is Jeff Sanger doing in net 16 hours after the game
last night??? I am pretty shocked that Coach decided to play Jeff in
the 2nd game...I've been on the same page with him all year but not
this time...he should have enough confidence in Curtis based on his
performance this season to start him in this game...Jeff already
looks tired against Denver. It makes NO sense to play Jeff in this
game and then Curtis in the 3rd game whether it's tomorrow afternoon
or tomorrow night.
Argh!!!
OOps...obviously MY memory is wacked!!
Melanson was Wisco's goalie.
What the heck was that guy's name? Anyway, he had a pretty good day
and cost us a trip to the finals against NoDak.
Does anybody remember if our seniors were around the year DU bounced
us into the consolation game on a Friday afternoon several years ago?
(Melanson was unconscious in goal that day) Wasn't that Lucia's last
season...after Toby's broken leg #2 against Duluth?
If so...then for Sanger, M. Cullen, M. Stuart, Hartsburg, Heerema, T.
Clark, and the rest of those who were there...the REVENGE TOUR
continues!!!
Lead the way, Seniors!! GO TIGERS!!!
