It's somewhat ironic that we face Michigan State first. There's a
bit of a revenge factor that should motivate CC, but it's a bit ironic
that our inconsistent offense gets to face one of the best college

No...it does not. Anyone can read and post the way I have it set up.

The domain name is safe and sound, but I got tired of paying for the
hosting. If anyone knows of a cheap hosting deal that allows for the
use of your own domain name (i.e. no geocities, etc.), let me know.
Nevertheless, DU Still Sucks!

I had no concern over the cost, I just didn't like the ezboard site. But you
should know by now that I'll follow Tiger hockey wherever it goes, or I go. ;)
See you at the ezboard.

Nevermind--I see you have it up already. And yes, my posts keep
getting cut of
To me, the money for the new board is not the real issue. Does this
mean that people cannot visit and contribute to the new board unless
they are members? If so, we would lose what I feel are valuable
contributions such as the recent posts by the Wisconsin fan
(bradfordthegreat?). And that would be a shame.
In any case, could you, in the meantime, post the other site for those
of us who didn't bookmark it? Than

Wow!!! Thanks gmf1a!!! I think we're up and running now!!!
Thanks for the recent responses inre: the new board vs. Y! But I
think/hope there is some confusion about how much it would actually
cost.
We have 119 members here at Y!. If you break that down to the most
active users based on stats Y! distributes daily it is AT LEAST 30+
members and very likely 50+ members on a weekly basis. Using the most
conservative #'s it would cost each member less than 30 cents a month
to establish the ezboard. If most everyone that visits here this week
just put $1 into the Community Chest we would be DONE for the next
12+ months!
I personally am not enjoying the new Y! "group" as it is shaving
posts off right in the middle of sentences (cite cetales recent posts)
and even shaved part of my founder message on the front page (note
where it says "Selec" instead of "Selection"...uncorrectable for some
reason) and posts sometimes take a half hour to show up (note gmf1a's
TEST TEST TEST post). All of this WITH the huge ads and 2 long
service disruptions...I'm not digging it.
And anyway, it looks like there are already going to be enough
members over at ezboard to lock in and when that happens Brian and I
(and anyone else who wants to be involved) are going to do a full
blown website in front of it...so it looks like it might be
inevitable...so how about $1 for the cause???
Go Tigers!!!

I'm not worried about the cost, but I think there may be a better choice than
the ezboard. I'll shoot you an e-mail to talk about it later. This board will

So CC's path to the Frozen Four goes through Michigan State (in Michigan), and,
after winning that game, through the Gophers. The Michigan State game will be
on Friday, March 22. The game against Minnesota will be on Saturday. Check
your local listings, in case I've made a mistake.
The western bracket is exactly as was posted earlier, which matched what the
USCHO analyst posted with Michigan and SCSU switched. It's frustrating that the
travel ban will cause the western bracket to be so much tougher, but at this
time of year all of the teams are good, and playing to keep from ending their
season. I think the Tigers can do it, particularly with the spectacular play of
Jeff Sanger over the last few weeks/months.
I don't even know if this message is going to show up...but I wrote
out and posted a whole laundry list of reasons why ezboard is better
than this site about 2 hours ago...one of them being many messages
here are not showing up (witness TEST TEST TEST post) and posts are
getting clipped right in the middle of sentences (cetales and
mine)...I had to change the text in the Founders Message twice
because it was clipped too. Add to that the 2 down service periods
and...well...like mom always said..."you get what you pay for".
Does anyone here realize that if most (not all) everyone here chipped
in $1-$2 PER YEAR we wouldn't have these problems? I can't believe $1-
$2 a year is too expensive for some of you.
Argh...we might end up with split groups soon with the membership @
ezboard growing the way it is. Please just consider donating a couple
dollars to the new board IF you find it to your liking at all because
I'm getting tired of posting messages that don't show up on top of
all the ads...
The first round of the NCAA playoffs will begin in just under a week, March
22-24. The top 2 teams in each region get a bye, 3 plays 6, and 4 plays 5. The
brackets are not reseeded, so the 4/5 winner plays 1, and the 3/6 winner plays
2. The winners of those two games (in each region) go to the Frozen Four in St.
Paul, April 4-6. Here's the link that I got the brackets from. Any errors are
their fault. :):

4. Michigan
5. St. Cloud
6. CC
EAST

I would have to agree, the ads are annoying, but hell I don't want
any of us to have to pay to talk about our Tigers!! Free is always
better!!
Counting down to the pairings!!
GO TIGERS....BEAT TBA!!!

As a college hockey fan I really hope that the committee doesn't go
with the straight East-West brackets. The competitive imbalance
between the two regionals would be ridiculous. However, I won't be
shocked if indeed that is how the brackets look.
I realize that any team can beat another on a given day---Mercyhurst
was thisclose to upsetting Michigan last year---but under this
scenario the East darn near becomes the Hockey East Tournament, Part
Deux, with a huge dogfight in the West.
Well, of course Michigan had to win and make a mess of things. :)
USCHO did a preview of the brackets (
http://www.uscollegehockey.com/news/2002/03/17_004299.php ) and here's what they
came up with:
WEST
1. DU
2. Minnesota
3. Michigan State
4. St. Cloud
5. Michigan
6. CC
EAST
1. UNH
2. BU
3. Maine
4. Cornell
5. Quinnipiac
6. Harvard
The PWR just came out with Michigan ahead of St. Cloud, so I'g guess that
they'll be switched. It doesn't change the matchups, just which team gets last
change.
IMHO, if they actually do it this way it would be a minor travesty. The eastern
bracket would far easier than the western bracket (Cornell, Quinnipiac, and
Harvard are the 3 lowest seeds in the tournament). If you want the fastest
possible update for the brackets, watch ESPN news at 7:00 mountain time (I
think, check first). I'll post the brackets here when I see them.
I agree that despite the awful advertising on the Y group, I would
just as soon stay here as opposed to paying on the EZBoard site.

I've been remiss in my duties, so I offer my most profound apologies. I've been
feeling a bit ill. This year there are some interesting things happening for the
NCAA tournament. As a result of the 9/11 events, air travel is going to be
limited to only those cases where the drive would be >400 miles, and to make
sure the top 4 seeds get byes. These are potentially conflicting objectives,
and no one really knows what the committee will do. Also, there is still one
game left to be played, which complicates things. If Michigan State wins the
CCHA title game tonight, it's pretty straightforward. The main question would
be if Harvard or Quinnipiac would be the eastern team sent west. I assumed
Harvard, but that's little more than a guess.
If MSU wins today, my guess is that the brackets will look like this:
WEST
1. DU
2. MSU
3. SCSU
4. CC
5. Michigan
6. Harvard
EAST
1. UNH
2. Minnesota
3. BU
4. Maine
5. Cornell
6. Quinnipiac
In that case, CC would play Michigan (on Michigan's home ice!), then face Denver
the next day. Tough road...
Things get very, very complicated if Michigan wins the CCHA game today. BU is
the host of the eastern regional, so they must stay east. However, that would
force the #1 seed (UNH) to travel west, and either Minnesota or DU to travel
east if they were to leave the possibility of the 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3 matchups.
Due to the travel restrictions, I'm assuming they won't let that happen. So,
assuming the travel restriction takes precedence over 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3
(likely), we have:
WEST
1. DU
2. Minnesota
EAST
1. UNH
2. BU
Now it gets complicated again. In order to minimize travel, CC, SCSU, Michigan,
and MSU would all be in the west regional, and Cornell, Quinnipiac, Harvard, and
Maine would be in the East. That would be a horribly, horribly unbalanced
bracket. You would have, IMHO, 6 of the top 8 teams in the country in the west,
and unquestionably the 3 weakest teams in the east. I hope the committee would
not let that happen just to keep one team from flying, but they might. My hope
would be that they would fly one eastern team (Harvard again) west, and since CC
will be flying regardless, have the Tigers fly east. There are too many
possibilities to go into once I start speculating like this, and I just don't
have a good understanding of what the priorities of the committee would be at
this point. I'm confident that the top 2 seeds in each region would look like I
put above. I can, however, imagine them making a western bracket of horror and
eastern cakewalk bracket (travel = #1 priority) or swap CC/Harvard
(travel/balance equally) or swap SCSU and CC with Quinnipiac and Harvard
(bracket balance #1 priority).
If you want to play around with the possibilities, check out this site:
http://www.slack.net/~whelan/tbrw/tbrw.cgi?tourney.diy
I vote for continuing the Y! board, huge and obnoxious ads
notwithstanding. Otherwise you're going to get stuck with bills and
headaches that are better left to Yahoo. Of course if pain is a
purifier for you then go for it.
Go Tige
Way to go Tigers!!! Indeed the Seniors came up HUGE against St
Cloud...especially occasionally-maligned Jeff Sanger...what a run he
is having the last several weeks!!! (I hope he takes a couple naps
this week :) Multiple kudos for Chris "Clutch" Hartsburg for his 2
GIGANTIC goals in the Final 5...I have never seen a player more
accountable when it comes down to crunch time...and even more
accountable after an untimely penalty or giveaway that hurts his
team...he always pays back 200%!!! Not to mention Mike Stuart, Peter
Sejna, Rich Petiot, and Colin Stuart who were just a few of the
Tigers to really put together a gutty weekend up there in St Paul.
Yes, I was severely disappointed in not beating Denver...but lo' and
behold they are likely the best team in the nation (UNH?) and I know
our boys can put together one last kill if we face them again NCAA!
Go Tigers!!!
OK folks...I think it's safe to say there are positives and negatives
about the new CCTH Y! "club"...and with the temporary EZBOARD that
was set up this weekend we got to see the grass on the other side of
the fence. Problem is that grass costs $$$. It's $10-12 per month to
keep the ezboard up and running. In case you haven't seen it click
here: http://pub7.ezboard.com/bcctigerhockey
POSITIVES: No ads, much better organization, better looking (the
wallpaper skating Tiger is NOT permanent). And MULTIPLE options:
http://pub7.ezboard.com/BBSUser.controlCenter?language=EN&back=
NEGATIVES : Apparently no otion to receive posts by mail...I might be
wrong on that. And $$$.
I am more than willing to put up part of the per-month to move us
over there IF...IF...there is overwhelming sentiment from YOU ALL to
do so. But I will need your help. The good new$ is "help" is
relatively easy...check this out:

I have activated the Community Chest Feature on the front page of the
new ezboard (it's literally a little treasure chect icon). If you
contribute to it now (I picked 3 months for starters) you will NOT be
billed unless we reach our goal. I will be submitting $5 now to show
my support for the new service. We have 30+ active members...
I'm on the fence about Y! vs. EZBOARD...but a little on the EZBOARD
side of the fence. I'm not sure how to guage sentiment other than
asking you to vote by contributing to the Community Chest account. I
GET NONE OF THIS MONEY by the way...not one red cent in any way shape
or form.
If we DO "move" to the EZBOARD I will actively persue establishing a
REAL GENUINE full blown WEBSITE (cctigerhockey.com?) that we will run
featuring photos, analysis, complete stats and recruiting/alumni
sections. Brian and I have been talking about doing this for some
time now.
So if you really want to "move" to the new EZBOARD...vote now!

Congratulations to the Tigers for winning 2 of 3 games again in
the WCHA Final Five. Several inspired seniors came through in a very
important game.
Although the WCHA coaches picked CC to win the conference (none of
the other polls ranked us highest among WCHA teams)and there is no
hardware to show yet, this season has not been a disappointment. We
are one of the best teams in the nation (beat SCSU 3 of 5, UMN 1 of
2, DU 2 of 5), won 26 games (to date) and will receive an invitation
to the NCAA Tournament.
The WCHA will not get any easier, the future is bright for CC
Tiger Hockey and this season is not over yet!
