> I invite you to attend a Thurston Regional Trails Planning Summit on
Thursday, December 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. here at TRPC.
>
> It has been nearly a year since the Thurston Regional Trails Plan
was adopted by the Regional Planning Council. One of the plan's goals
is to "Ensure that trail design, development, and programs function
seamlessly across community borders" The region's policy makers
encourage TRPC to serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas,
information and issues related to trails planning. Many of you were
instrumental in shaping the contents and recommendations in the plan.
This informal meeting is an opportunity for you to share and gather
information, maintain regional partnerships, and foster collaboration.
We will discuss:
>
> 1. The relationship between the regional trails plan and local
trail planning efforts
>
> 2. Regional Trail Priorities: Bridging the Gap of the Chehalis
Western Trail and the Woodland Trail (Eastside St to Capitol Lake)
>
> 3. Regional Follow-Up Measures: Regional Finance Strategy,
Long-Term Maintenance Strategy, and Joint Use Utility/Rail Corridors
with Trails
>
> 4. What progress or challenges has your organization
experienced in trail planning, development, and operations in 2008?
>
> 5. What are your objectives for 2009?
>
> Please consider attending and let me know either way if you will or
will not be able to attend.
