Your accident sooooo sucks Kris. My vote would be A. The spokes due to
age, particularly if they are Wheelsmith or B. The fork failed due to
age. I hope your pain subsides soon and wish you a speedy recovery.
Since if is fall now you can catch up on your bike video and magazine
reading. I hope you feel better soon. It may be over cautious in some
minds but I rebuild all my wheels that see hard use (i.e. road
race/commuter and mountain wheels every two years minimum to ensure
the spokes and nipples have less chance of a fatigue failure. That's a
little easier for me as I have built well over 12,000 wheels counting
the machine aided lacing and having the tools, hubs, rims, and spokes
at home all the time helps.
