2008 Fall League Registration is now underway!
Please take a look at our group home page for information on how to
register for this year's Fall League.
This year's league will be held on Sundays (not Wednesdays), and your
team will play from either 7-8, 8-9, or 9-10 PM.
Also, new this year, we will offer red t-shirts. If you got a Fall
League shirt last year and would like a red this year, indicate so on
your registration form.
If you have any ?'s, please post them on the group discussion board,
and I will do my best to answer them.
Thanks!

2007 Fall Leaguers,
So I took my sweet time finishing the 07 Fall League Champ Game video.
Well, it's done. And it can be viewed on Facebook at the following
link (though you may have to be friends with user "Carolina
Frisbee"...I don't know though):

Happy Holidays!
Devin
Fall Leaguers,
I wanted to let you all know about a 1-hour credit PE course you can
take this semester...Ultimate with Dave Barbeau. Yes, there's an
ultimate class that will be open to 30 students, running on Wednesdays
from 2:30-4:10 PM. Barbeau will be teaching from the ground up, so
don't be hesitant to sign up especially if you're new.
Spread the word and let your friends know. We'd like to recruit some
good players out of this class for both the Men's and Women's Teams.
The course is...
281618 - PEDU 555V - Flying Disc Sport
Wed - 2:30 - 4:10 PM
Fall League was a good bit of work to pull off, but I agree with all
of you...it was great to have the ultimate community coming together
on Wednesday nights. Too bad for the weather delay as our
Championship Game Night was a bit under-attended; however, I video
taped the whole thing and once I get a little time there will be a
new video online.
For anyone who's looking for ultimate, by now you should know about
the Men's and Women's Club Team practices. If you're not ready to
commit to that, there is pickup at the Strom Thurmond Fields starting
around 4 PM on Fridays.
Currently, the Sunday game (2 PM) is dead; however, I'd like to get
it revived if at all possible.
Oh yeah, there will likely be intramural ultimate offered by the
university in the spring semester. I will send a message or
something letting everyone know if/when that info is available.

I second that belated thank you! I think our women's team was greatly
helped by fall league - not only in recruiting women but also in
speeding up their learning curve. Plus, it was nice to see so many
people playing ultimate at one time. This was a fabulous thing. I
hope it becomes a USC tradition.

To Devin and whoever else had a hand in the fall league,
Thanks for organizing and planning. What a great way to get more
students interested in our fun sport. Hopefully, it helped recruit
some athletes for the men's and women's teams. And, the shirts and
discs were a nice bonus.

Fall League concluded this past Wednesday night when the team captained
by Josh Evans and Anna Handley beat out Kevin Anderson's and Laura
Wehlitz's squad. Additionally, Devin Waldrop's Spartans won the Spirit
Award with a perfect spirit rating. Congratulations to all the teams
and players that participated in this year's Fall League, and we hope
you register again next year!
A finals video will be posted on Facebook under the user
profile "Carolina Frisbee." There is already a Fall League Playoffs
Video posted, and a blooper reel is coming soon.
For those of you who want to keep playing Ultimate, men practice and
play on Monday and Wednesday nights from 8-10 at the Strom Fields
(where we played Fall League). Women's practice and play Monday from 6-
8 PM and Wednesday from 8-10 PM. We also have co-rec pickup on Friday
from 4-6 PM.
Semi's begins at 6 PM at the Strom Fields tonight. Please be there 30
minutes early so we can start on time.
Rookie All-Star Game will begin at 7 PM. One game of 30 minutes.
Finals begins at 7:30 PM.
It's not raining...but it's wet...expect some layouts.
Fall League party will be tomorrow evening after the hat tournament.
Details and directions will be sent later.
Here is the make-up schedule for Fall League Semi's, Finals, and
Rookie All-Star Game. Please show up at least 30 minutes early b/c
we've had to put in some last-minute field reservations due to the
change in schedule. We don't want lights shut off on us during the
champ game...
Friday Night, Oct 26th
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM [SEMI'S]
Field 2 - Grayson/Katie vs. Josh/Anna
Field 3 - Devin vs Kevin/Laura
*There is a chance of this game (Devin vs Kevin/Laura) getting moved
ahead to 5 PM in the event that the 2nd field reservation doesn't go
through, but I will post by noon whether or not anything changes.
Likely we will be able to get the 2nd field so we can play at 6 PM,
but I want to let you know ahead of time in case something does
change.
7:00 PM - 7:30 PM [ROOKIE ALL-STAR GAME] - Everyone just bring a
light and a dark...
Field 2 - Rookie All-Star Game - (each non-Finals team to nominate 3
males, 2 females = 12 males + 8 females per Rookie All-Star Team)...
7:30 PM - 8:30 PM [FINALS]
Field 3 - Championship Game
Everything's still on if it rains. If it's to the point where it's
thundering and/or pouring, I will send out a message tomorrow by 4 PM
letting everyone know what the deal is.
Additionally, we already had scheduled this Friday to be the
Championship Game Night, so tough luck for anyone in semi's who can't
make it. The way the next 2 weeks works out, this is pretty much the
only day we can do it without postponing Fall League Finals for 2
weeks.
It has been raining all day and doesn't look to be quitting anytime
soon. Even if it did, the fields wouldn't be able to dry out in time.
I'll post the make-up schedule soon.
Don't forget...Haunted Hat Tournament this Saturday. Ask a Women's
Teamer or go to www.scorchsc.com
Right now, weather.com is giving us a 70% chance of thunderstorms in
the evening. I will send out an e-mail no later than 7 PM on Wednesday
stating whether or not we will play. A make-up schedule will be posted
in the event that we don't.
If we are not playing, DO NOT go out and use the fields. Within our
ultimate community, there have been personal accounts of friends being
struck by lightning. Additionally, we do not want to ruin our good
fields by tearing them up in heavy rain.
Again, I will send out something no later than 7 PM on Wed, so check
your e-mail.
