Carlos is now playing in Chennai, India. He has beaten 2 Russian
players, and is now in the quarter-finals. This evening he plays
Florent Serra. if he wins that, he might have to play Rafael Nadal in
the semis ...
VAMOS CARLOS!

Found this story on the net:

JANKOVIC, MOYA RETURNING TO SYDNEY [ November 30, 2007 ]

Jelena Jankovic and Carlos Moya are the latest additions to the entry
list for January's Sydney International at Olympic Park.

Two of the world's most charismatic and exciting tennis stars,
Jankovic and Moya were both runners-up last year and will be aiming
to go one better in 2008.

They are the latest big names confirmed for the Australian Open warm-
up event from January 6-12, joining Lleyton Hewitt, James Blake,
Richard Gasquet, Justine Henin and Ana Ivanovic.

With the full fields to be announced next week, tournament director
Craig Watson said the event was shaping up to be another crowd
thriller.

"Jelena Jankovic is one of the real personalities on the women's tour
and a superb athlete who captivated the tennis world this year with a
string of stunning performances that catapulted her to a top-three
ranking," said Watson.

"Similarly, Carlos Moya is one of the most popular players on the
circuit.

"He is renowned for his sportsmanship and always turns on a show,
interacting with fans and officials and mixing a bit of fun with the
business of winning.

"Jelena and Carlos both came so close to winning their respective
titles this year and their fighting spirit will come to the fore next
January as they aim to avenge their 2007 finals losses.

"I think we're in for some spectacular displays of tennis from these
two great players.

Jankovic held a match point against Kim Clijsters in this year's
final before going down in a seesawing three-set thriller.

On her way to the final, she posted her 200th career singles win in
the second round against Australia's Samantha Stosur and went on to
knock out some of the biggest names in women's tennis.

"I am very much looking forward to my return to Australia," Jankovic
said.

"Sydney has been a good place for my tennis, especially this year
when I beat both (Amelie) Mauresmo and (Martina) Hingis, then was one
point from winning the title against Kim."

The finals encounter was the launching pad for the most successful
season of Jankovic's career.

The hard-hitting Serb exploded onto the tennis scene, hitting the
million-dollar mark in earnings, claiming her first grand slam title
with success in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon and qualifying for the
season-ending championships in Madrid.

At 22, she reached the world's top 10 for the first time and finished
2007 with the No.3 ranking behind Henin and Svetlana Kuznetsova.

At 31, Carlos Moya comes to Sydney as the oldest player in the
world's top 20, but also with a game that is marked with the fire of
youth.

In 2007, the Spaniard captured his 20th career title to finish the
season with the world's No.17 ranking and remains as popular with
tennis fans today as he did when he broke onto the scene more than a
decade ago.

Moya, a former French Open champion, has reached the final three
times in Sydney and will be hoping for a case of fourth-time-lucky in
January.

In 1998, he lost to Karol Kucera and two years later injury forced
his withdrawal from his finals clash with Lleyton Hewitt.

Moya took the second set against James Blake in the 2007 final before
the American went on to claim his second successive Medibank
International title.

The Tennis Masters Cup was quite interesting, especially with the rise
of Spain's David Ferrer, beating all his opponents on his way to the
final. That included Djokovic, Rafael, Gasquet and Roddick. Even
Federer didn't have a winning run through, he got beaten by Gonzales
in an early round. But Federer finished off as the Tennis Masters
Champion once again, beating David Ferrer in the TMC final.

I am pleased with Ferrer's performance, as he's a determined player
who goes about his job without all the 'hoo-haa' of publicity, etc.
Maybe now the tennis 'whoevers' will take note and put him on major
courts in the Aussie Open. I've seen him playing on outside courts too
often in Melbourne when he deserves better ...

But of course I'll be following Carlos & Rafa first at A.O. ;-)

Well, Nalbandian beat Federer again and kept on winning. Now he plays
Rafael Nadal in the Paris final. A good run by Nalby, but I hope Rafa
wins!

Next tournament for Carlos will be Paris, from October 27 to November 4.
Here's some news ... don't think he will get to Shanghai somehow ...

The Seven Amigos.
Of the seven players fighting for one spot (the last one), only one is
not playing this week. Veteran Carlos Moya has chosen to sit out this
week in order to give it his best (last?) shot in Paris. Haas, Robredo,
Gasquet and Ljubicic are in Lyon while Berdych and Blake are in Basel.
Remember that not one of these guys made it past the 2nd round in

Hmmm, Moya's conquerer Djokovic got to the USO final, but Roger beat
him (as expected) ... though 2 of the sets were tie-breakers.
Federer won 7-6, 7-6, 6-4.

Carlos won again! You little bewdy!!
He beat Latvian Ernests Gulbis in 4 sets.

Report:
VETERAN MOYA SEES OFF GULBIS Tues 4 Sept., 2007

Carlos Moya used all his experience to stop the charge of teenager
Ernests Gulbis.
In a match between the oldest and youngest men left in the singles
draw 31-year-old Spaniard Moya needed four sets to oust the 19-year-
old Latvian and deny the youngster his bid to reach last eight on his
championship debut.
Moya, seeded 17th, won 7-5 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 in two hours 25 minutes
at the Arthur Ashe Stadium to set up a potential meeting with number
three Novak Djokovic, who was due to play Juan Monaco.
The powerful and gifted Gulbis had not dropped a set in dispatching
Potito Starace, the unseeded Michael Berrer and eighth seed Tommy
Robredo in quick order but in Moya, the 1998 French Open champion, he
finally met his match and was quickly two sets down.
The 6ft 3ins Latvian was not about to capitulate, however, and fought
back admirably to keep the match alive with a tiebreak victory in the
third set.
Moya, who had been taken to five sets by Germany's Phillipp
Kohlschreiber in the previous round, seemed determined not to go the
distance again and having tried and failed to close out the match in
three sets he pulled out all the stops to win in four, finishing the
match with a sublime, angled crosscourt winner on match point.
