Auction of British Airways tickets   Message List

To the Caracas Hash House Harriers,

Thanks to the generosity of Lindsay White, British Airways' station manager in Caracas, British Airways had donated 2 round-trip tickets to the Hash that we had originally planned to auction off in Choroni as part of the 500th Hash celebrations.  The proceeds from these tickets will provide the Hash with the funds for a number of projects that will be defined and decided upon by the Mismanagement Committee over the next month.

As a result of the appeal Bea Sargent made in Choroni for donations to pay the cost of a crucial operation for a needy child, Lindsay donated another 2 tickets for us to auction off with the funds to go to that very worthy cause.

To get the maximum value for these tickets, we have decided to offer them by way of an online auction to the Hash membership with the tickets going to the highest bids received by 10 AM on Sunday, June 6th.  The winners will be formally announced during the Hash later that day.

To help you determine a value for your bids, please review the following conditions:

1.  These tickets are for Caracas/London/Caracas only.  Lindsay and his Caracas staff will assist the winners to get the lowest fares for ongoing travel from London within the UK or to any of British Airways' European destinations.
2.  Each ticket is valid until May 20 2005.
3.  After the successful bid (purchase) and registration with BA, the ticket is not transferrable.
4.  Ticket excludes all departure and local taxes.
5.  Bookings are subject to commercial demand. (ie travel can be taken in a high season,) Lindsay asks that we make each successful bidder aware that there is a risk of a booked reservation being postponed in a high season period, as full fare paying passengers would have priority. Lindsay suggests that we ask all bidders to liaise with his PA to seek advice as to which flights would be least likely to be effected by this situation.
6.  The four tickets must be bid for separately.  Where a bidder wins only one but requires additional tickets, Lindsay will provide those tickets at the best possible price at the time of travel.
7.  Keep in mind that the price of the tickets being auctioned will be in bolivares but that additional tickets must be paid for in dollars at the official exchange rate.

To participate in the auction, please cut the following grid from this message and paste it into a "Reply to All" message, changing the bid price and inserting your name and email address:
