Sunday, 27th November, Gerry once again opened his beautiful home for another hash.  Why he would voluntarily do this yet another time remains a mystery to me!  As usual, the 14.30pm meet was delayed by over an hour – why does this always happen? – and Horny blew the start at 15.45.  Obviously, this is 15.00 in Venezuelan hours!!

At the start of the walk/run, the sky threatened us with a massive downpour, but since the temperature was 25C, it was good exercise conditions. Gerry and Willy (the baldish one) were the hares.  Both the walk and run were steep and the run quite long, and the markings received some criticism.  The walkers had to look long and hard for markings, showing the right way – by the next crossroads we were wiser!   The walk was relatively short: even Horny stepped it out and was ‘in’ long before many others.  He was so far in front, we could hardly hear his horn!

When we all got back, many were horrified to see the barbeque wasn’t even prepared, let alone lit – and the threatened rain made its appearance!  Luckily for us, it was a short, fresh shower which came and went quickly.  However, the BBQ still looked cold and alone - a long early afternoon loomed before us ...oh no... or so we thought.  During the circle-up, to everybody’s great relief, it was announced there wasn’t going to be a BBQ, but a TEX-MEX – yum yum!
During the circle... the RA had quite a few problems with some rogue hashers (where were the sheriffs when you need them?) and there were persistent chatterboxes who wouldn’t learn their lesson (maybe by their third down-down, we should have replaced the beer with castor oil?).  Willy (the baldish one, who gives his all and is this weeks target to pick on... ha ha) droned on and on about the way we should distribute the Christmas presents on the 10th(arguements well taken), to the point where he was kicked out of the circle... so we could get down to some real business (eating!).

The swimming pool wasn’t greeted with great enthusiasm – only a young Viking and an old guy from the Andes (both used to colder temperatures) braved the water... well done!

Onto the food ....  Nicole and Terry worked many hours on Saturday to prepare the scrumptious banquet, with Alex (Gerry’s son) pitching in with some help!  Everything was delicious, and all feasted heartily – a great big THANK YOU to all the chefs!!
Well, ON-ON to the next event .... the Xmas Party and then the Hangover hash!
