Following tradition, Barry Blacklock, the breakfast organizer, will be serving pancakes drenched in pure Canadian maple syrup, with pork sausages and scrambled eggs on the side. All washed down with champagne and orange juice, beer, and/or soft drinks!
For musical entertainment, Barry will have a local band playing the Venezuelan equivalent of country and western. Recorded North American country and western music will be played during the band's breaks.
The Stampede Breakfast is a family event. In addition to CIC's excellent playground facilities, six horses will be available to give rides to the younger guests.
Attendance at the Breakfast has grown from 45 of Barry’s wife's family and friends at the first Breakfast in 1994 to over 500 people last year. This year he is expecting close to 600 people.
The cost of the Breakfast is paid by a group of sponsors, including the Canadian Embassy, Alberta Economic Development, Petro-Canada, Petrobank Energy, Millennium Capital de Venezuela, and the Saranda Resort. However, Barry is requesting a donation from each adult in the amount of 10,000 Bs. to the Terry Fox Fundación Carrera de Esperanza Venezuela, a new charity spearheaded by the Canadian ambassador's wife and the Venezuelan Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
Each adult attendee will have the opportunity to participate in a raffle for a number of exciting prizes, with the grand prize being 2 round-trip tickets on Air
Barry has always invited members of the Hash House Harriers to attend the Breakfast and is going to make a special effort to promote the Hash during this year’s Breakfast. In return, he has asked for as much help as possible from Hash members during the day on the registration table and serving the food and champagne and orange juice. Most will find this more fun than work!
