The Caracas Hash House Harriers had a meeting of the Mismanagement Committee on Thursday, November 11^th during which we discussed and decided on the following:

 

1. In preparation for the imminent departure of Mike “Motherchalker” Chambers from Venezuela, we invited Peter Ravey to become our new Religious Advisor.  Peter gracefully accepted and promised to fulfill his duties with the maximum creativity and style!!!  However, Peter has a busy travel schedule and will not be present at all future Hashes.  In those cases, a volunteer from the committee or a guest RA will take his place.

 

2. Carsten Bjerregaard and Tormod Kjellstad have also officially joined the Mismanagement Committee and jointly accepted responsibility for the newly created position of “Hash Sherriff”.  Their primary duty will be to maintain Hash Discipline, especially during the Circle.  The methods they use will be of their own design but could include physical and psychological torture techniques commonly used in Scandinavia.  Rumor has it that they will be punishing some of their fellow Vikings for their poor attendance records at Hashes and committee meetings.  Watch out Ove, Ana Brigitte, Knute, “Viking Amigo”, and “Ivan the Terrible!!!

 

3. In recognition of the rising cost of beer and food, we agreed to establish a preferential beer charge of 5000 bolivares per adult for local members of the Hash and boost the beer charge for expats to 8000 bolivares per adult.  Children remain free of charge; however, we decided to eliminate the discount for female Hashers.

 

4. As a way of having more Hashes with food but as an alternative to expensive barbeque Hashes, we agreed to introduce “Hashie Meals” (what do you think of that name!!!) that will take the form of relatively inexpensive meals like stews, spaghetti, and chili con carne.  We will charge 5000 bolivares per adult and 3000 per child for these events.  We will not be asking Hashers to bring salads to events with Hashie Meals.

 

5. The new fees with apply to our next Hash, which is scheduled for November 21^st with “Cueball” hosting and haring what he says will be a fun trail for all, although not buggy-friendly.  As compensation for complimenting him on his haring, Cueball will also be cooking up a gourmet Hashie Meal to feed us after the Hash.  Details will be available within the next few hours!

 

6. The following Hash is scheduled for December 5^th.  Iain is trying to convince Lindsay White from British Airways to let us wreck his house as part of our after-Hash ceremony so that he can claim the damages on his expense account in Euros but pay for them using black market bolivares.  (I imagine that this would constitute revenge against BA for shutting down their Caracas operation and uprooting Lindsay from his harem!!!).

 

7. The Caracas Hash House Harriers Christmas Dinner and party is currently scheduled for Saturday, December 11^th at Blackballocks’ house in Valle Arriba.  Iain, Win, and Bea have volunteered to organize the dinner menu, which will include favorite Christmas entrees from some of our home countries.  The Hash will pay for the entrees and Hashers who bring side dishes and desserts will get a discount of 5000 bolivares against a charge of 15,000 bolivares per expat adult, 10,000 bolivares per local adult, and 5,000 bolivares per child.  These charges will include beer and liquor.

 

8. Please note that the Christmas Dinner will be restricted to members of the Caracas Hash House Harriers who have attended at least one of the last few Hashes with no guests allowed.  In order to properly plan food for the event, we will be asking those who plan to attend to register before hand through an email address that Iain is going to set up specifically for that purpose.

 

9. All Hashers who plan to attend the Christmas Dinner will be asked to bring a wrapped gift for Santa Claus to give on their behalf to another Hasher!  Mike “Motherchalker” Chambers has volunteered to organize the gift-giving in a way that promises to entertain!!!  He will be supplying us with the details within the next couple of weeks.

 

10. The next Hash following the Christmas Dinner will be a Boxing Day Hash that will be hosted and hared by Blackballocks.  This will be a “Potluck Leftover Hash” that will allow Hashers to get a little exercise to help them digest their Christmas dinners and get rid of the leftovers that will be taking up all of their refrigerator space!!!  Details to come!!

 

11. Andre Mortimer has volunteered to organize a raffle for the 2 British Airways round-trip tickets that keep bouncing back to the Hash because the restrictions make them difficult to use.  Iain has promised to re-confirm the restrictions with Lindsay White from British Airways so that Andre can publish the rules for the raffle shortly.

 

12. Finally, later in the evening, after she had consumed a few beer, Carol Marzuola volunteered to write a special article on the Caracas Hash House Harriers that will be featured on the Caracas Hash website and that we will try to have published in the Daily Journal’s weekend edition or monthly magazine.  Carol is a talented professional writer and we are looking forward to reading her description of the Hash!!!!

 

I trust that I haven’t missed anything important and will award a double down-down to anyone who tries to claim that I have!
