Hey everyone,
The Big League Challenge Home Run Derby is this weekend, and I don't know
about you, but I'm really excited. I borrowed my Dad's camera that has a
telephoto lens, so hopefully I can get some really good photos to post on
Canseconet.com. To those of you that will be there, maybe we can come up
with a meeting place/time for Saturday morning. I know the first pitch is
at 9:15, but I heard the gates open at 8:00. I'd like to be there by 7:30
at the latest, to ensure we get good seats... Are any of you familiar with
Cashman field? Is there a good place we can all meet outside?
To those of you that's won't be there, I promise I'll send out an email
next week detailing my weekend. You guys have seemed to really enjoy my
previous Jose stories, so hopefully this will be another good one to add to
the list! And like I said, I plan to take a lot of pictures too... ESPN
will be televising the derby in weekly installments starting March 20th
(see article below). I'll let you know closer to then exactly when Jose
will be on.
I have switched web site hosts again. Canseconet.com is now being hosted
by Matt Bathurst, who is a member of this list! As I type this email, my
site is down, but that is because of a power outage that Matt assures me
isn't a regular occurrence. I am beginning to think I am the most unlucky
guy on the planet when it comes to web hosting. hehehe...
If you haven't entered the 2000 Jose Canseco Home Run Contest yet, don't
forget! This year, I'm giving away a PSA 8 1986 Donruss rookie card AND an
autographed bat. As a reminder, there is one free entry per
household. After that, you can earn (for free) up to 4 more entries to the
contest. Head to http://www.canseconet.com/more.htm for the details of how
to get more entries.
Serious Canseco Collectors, read on:
One member of this list, Steve Mack has a huge Canseco collection that is
known to be "one of the largest in Canada" and he would like to sell it all
together. To see a list of everything in his collection, go to
http://home.ican.net/~smacker/ and then click on "The List." If you have
any questions or would like to make Steve an offer, email him at
smacker@.... This really is an impressive collection. I hope it
finds a new home with one of you Cansecoites...
Take it easy,
Mark

From the St. Petersburg Times:
BAY BOMBERS: With Greg Vaughn, McGriff, Jose Canseco and Vinny Castilla in
the middle of the lineup, the Rays are expecting a ton of home runs. They
also are counting on a catchy nickname for the fearsome foursome, and are
running a contest to that end. Prizes include a pair of season tickets,
Castilla-signed baseballs and tickets to the home opener. Details are
available on the team Web site at http://www.devilray.com. (Click on "Tag
the heart of the lineup")
GOING DEEP: Canseco and Vaughn are among 12 sluggers in a home run
competition next weekend in Las Vegas. The Big League Challenge, sponsored
by the players association, will feature 11 one-on-one showdowns. ESPN will
show the contest in weekly installments starting March 20.
