[Canseconet.com] Vegas Home Run Derby Info...   Message List

Hey Cansecoites...

Canseconet.com is back online! I moved everything back to my old (and
slower) host. This is only temporary - I will be moving it to a better
host soon. Right now, those of you with Canseconet email accounts should
be able to use them again. I'm going to try to find a new host that will
permanently support Canseconet mail, but I'm not making any promises.

Ok, time for the exciting news: A few emails ago, I mentioned a Home Run
Derby that is going to be taking place in Las Vegas the weekend of 2/12,
and a lot of you have written to me asking for more information. Well,
I've finally got something to tell you.

The 12 best sluggers in the majors will be in the tournament, including
Jose! It will be taped by ESPN and aired in multiple segments throughout
the baseball season. It sounds really cool - they will be doing in depth
features on each of the players in between showing the tournament action.
Here's how the derby will work:

On Saturday (2/12) morning, the following players will tee off and the top
four will advance to Round 2: Chipper Jones, JOSE CANSECO, Mike Piazza,
Frank Thomas, Shawn Green, Barry Bonds, Greg Vaughn, and Nomar Garciaparra.
Personally, I like Jose's chances of advancing a lot. This is his chance
to show the world what he could have done last summer in Fenway if he
wasn't too busy having back surgery.

Saturday afternoon, Round 2 will feature the best four sluggers from Round
1 plus Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Ken Griffey Jr., and Rafael Palmeiro. I
know, Jose doesn't get a bye like those guys, but that's ok - this will
just give Jose more tv time! The four players who go deep the most in
Round 2 will advance to the third and final round.

On Sunday afternoon, those four guys will battle it out until Jose is
eventually crowned the ultimate home run king!

Ok, now that I've given you the details, I'm sure a lot of you will want to
go and witness this historic event in person. I know I will be there - I
wouldn't miss this for the world. Unfortunately, the stadium where this is
being held only holds 9000 people, so tickets are going to be very limited.
And worse yet, individual tickets aren't even for sale. If you want to
guarantee you'll get in to one of the sessions, you have to spend $54.50 on
a Las Vegas Stars package deal. That gets you a ticket to ONE of the three
sessions, plus a bunch of other stuff - tickets to 9 weekend Stars games, a
ticket to the A's/Rockies game held there on April 2, and some other small
gifts (baseball, Stars cap, poster). This is a fantastic deal IF you live
anywhere near Las Vegas and can actually attend some of these events. To
order this package, call (702)798-7826.

However, for the rest of us, $54.50 is a lot of money to spend for a ticket
to one session of the HR Derby. That's where I come in to save the day! I
made some calls, pulled some strings, talked up Canseconet.com and this
email list, and I was able to get my hands on some tickets to Round 1!!!
If you would like one or more tickets, email me back ASAP and I'll tell you
where to send me the money. I'm selling the tickets for $25 each - they
are all General Admission, which are actually the good seats for a HR
Derby! If I don't get rid of all I have, I'm not worried - I'm sure
scalpers will be selling them for MUCH more at the event. If I run out of
tickets, I'll try my best to get more, but I don't know for sure if I'll be
able to. You might have to call the number I listed above and get the
package deal. Individual tickets to these sessions will only go on sale to
the public if there are any seats left after the corporate sponsors
(including Canseconet.com!) buy theirs and the $54.50 promotion is over.
After talking to the Stars guy on the phone, I don't see that happening.
I'd say your best bet is to get a ticket from me, or to buy the package
deal directly from the Stars.

Oh, one more thing... the tickets I have are all for Round 1 - the only
round Jose is guaranteed to be in. If you would like a tickets to rounds 2
and 3, let me know and I'll see what I can do. After I hear from you guys,
I'll call my Stars' contact back and try to get my hands on more tickets if
necessary.

Mark

P.S. Those of you who signed up for AllAdvantage under me and are earning
money for doing your usual web surfing know how good of a deal that is
(Check out http://www.canseconet.com/getpaid.htm if you haven't already).
Well, I found another one for you. This one is for a service that you can
use to pay money to anyone with an email address. It's perfect for those
of you who buy/sell over the web or are inloved in a lot of online
auctions. I just signed up today and haven't had a chance to try it out
yet, but I thought I would tell you about it now, because for those of you
who decide to buy HR Derby tickets from me, this could be a lot easier than
sending checks through the mail. Either way, you should check it out.
Right now they are giving all new accounts $10 just for signing up, and you
can earn up to another $1000 for referring other people to the program.
Check it out. Here's the link:
