Hey Cansecoites,
I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I have selected a new
host for my web site, and things should be much faster once the move takes
place (in the next day or two). The other good news, and this is VERY good
news, is that the 2000 Jose Canseco Home Run Contest will be up and running
as soon as the site transfer is complete! I'm not going to say what this
year's prize is - you'll just have to wait another day or two to find out!
Actually, there are TWO prizes this year, and both are nice!
Now for the bad news. If you never signed up for a Canseconet mail account
(yourname@...), there is now bad news... But for those of you
that have @canseconet.com email addresses, keep reading. Before I selected
my new host, I made sure they would be able to support me offering web
based email. They told me it wouldn't be a problem. Well, it turns out it
is a problem.
As soon as the transfer takes place (probably in the next 24 hours), you
will o longer be able to receive email at your canseconet address. You MAY
be able to log in to your account and send email, but I'm ot even sure
about that. This may only be a temporary outage, but I have no idea how
long tis will be a problem. I highly suggest you notify everyone who sends
email to your canseconet.com address to start using an alternative address.
I feel really badly that this is happening, but I didn't have much choice.
The poor performance of the server my site is currently hosted on has made
this change a necessity. Not only that, but I outgrew that host and need
more space for photos anyway!
To those of you that are subscribed to THIS list with your canseconet.com
email address, you will need to resign up with a new address at
http://www.canseconet.com/signup.htm
If you don't have an alternate email address, check out hotmail or
mail.com. They both offer good web based email similar to canseconet mail.
Again, I apologize for any trouble this may cause you...
Thanks for understanding,
Mark
