From Fox sports:
NEWS: Jose Canseco joins twin brother Ozzie on the Newark Bears of the
independent Atlantic League.
VIEWS: Do you think maybe Jose would like to reach 500 home runs and attain
almost-certain Hall of Fame status? You betcha; just as badly as the
renegade league needs a cheap marketing tool.
Canseco has 446 right now and to get more needs a major league job after
being released by the Angels. He claims the Angels bad-mouthed his delicate
physical condition, although hitting just 15 home runs with Tampa and the
Yankees last season might have something to do with it.
No one doubts that Canseco could put up awesome numbers in Newark, if
healthy. His brother led the league in homers (48) and RBI (129) last
season, and he has had just brief stints in the majors.
If Canseco stays healthy, he probably will get another big-league job as a
DH. After all, if Rickey Henderson can find employment at age 42.

Rants and Raves
APRIL 24, 2001
By Ken Rosenthal
Rant: The Angels' Glenallen Hill will miss three to seven weeks with a
strained left oblique muscle after batting .135 with one home run, no walks
and 18 strikeouts in 52 at-bats.
Jose Canseco couldn't have done that?
==========
From the Orange County Register:
The Angels, eight games behind division-leading Seattle as of Wednesday
morning, didn't fall eight games back last season until Aug. 6.
Their largest deficit in 2000 was 91/2 games on the final day of the season.
Glenallen Hill, DL. Does Bill Stoneman still have Jose Canseco's phone number?
