not to dissuade anyone from trying to make camelot's weekday pickup happen...

but...

for many years now, there's been a tuesday eve summer pickup in chicago at
montrose beach on the sand!

i just went yesterday.
it seemed to be a slightly more competitive group than camelot tends to be, but
fun is (always) first and foremost.
super fun, especially with a strong breeze coming off the lake making it a silly
time too.

also...
a couple people told me that they're trying to put together the same game on
thursday evenings for the rest of the summer too.
so...

if you're starved for a weekday evening pickup and we suburbanites just can't
amass the numbers...

consider going out to montrose beach to play pickup on the sand!

play starts around 7:30-8, i hear, and goes till about 10:15 or so (when the
police start coming around, or the sand-cleaning machine)

it takes place under the lights right in front of the fieldhouse, just north of
the volleyball nets.

whoohoo!

and bring a swimsuit and towel if it's warm out!
cuz jumping in the lake after running around sure feels nice!

I am not the organizer for Sunday's game but here is some info that might help:
 
Yes Sunday's games have been going on. Games are played as long as their is no
rain. The field to look for is located east of E Briar Place and N. Brighton
Place, behind the houses. Use google maps to zoom in on the view.
 
 
Most people that drive park near 2162 N Brighton Pl and walk east on the path.
Then follow the path south to the field.

I have been keeping the phone tree list. However, I am usually not available on
Thursdays and have only been trying to get a Tuesday game going. Thursdays look
more promising. If someone who is available Thursdays would like to get a game

I've got Plantar Fasciitis (heel pain) and I'm hurting like hell. It was
from playing Frisbee 2 weeks ago... my shoes were horrible and I really
shouldn't have run that hard. Weekend warrior syndrome. I am healing OK
and will be back for the season.
