Not as such; however, in order to send spam, they do have to subscribe to
the group. I removed that address from the subscription list, but there's
not much I can do to stop the spam, since I'm sure they subscribed and then
sent the message immediately.
The only thing I could do if it becomes a problem is change the group so
that a moderator has to approve all new membership requests. If this sort
of thing starts happening a lot, then I will turn that on so I can
disapprove any addresses that look like obvious spam sources.
BTW, if anyone is curious, the current list moderators are myself, Jason
Weiss, and Larry Schrof.
