All club members are invited to nominate themselves to one or more of the following roles if they would like to be included as a candidate in the vote.

CURRENTLY HELD POSITIONS
========================
Chairperson: Danny White
Secretary: Stuart Charles
Treasurer: Jonny Allen
Club Captain: VACANT
Fixtures Sec: Chris Ilsley
Development Manager: Charlie Stephenson
Head Coach: Charlie Stephenson
Parent's Rep: Nick Vale
Fund Raiser: VACANT
Youth Team Coordinator: Chris Threadgold
Social Secretary: Sunil Sharma
Welfare Officer: Ed Garratt

As you can see there are a lot of positions available - it would be fantastic to see some new faces on the committee to bring new ideas to the table and to help take the club forward. Don't be worried about offending other people that may already hold the position - competition for roles can only be healthy for the long term prosperity of the club.

A full description of the roles, including the responsibilities and skills required can be found at the following location:

http://www.cambournecc.com/committee

Please note that all applications must be with the consent of the nominee and be seconded by another club member as per this excerpt from the Club Constitution.

c) All nominations of candidates for election shall:

Message second hand from Danny, so apologies for lack of detail….

A sports company in St Neots who develop advanced training apparatus and techniques are looking for guinea pigs to trial a new release of their product at some point tomorrow (31st Oct). They are basically looking for cricket players to go in and use their equipment which will critically analyse batting / bowling technique. Members of the club have visited the company before and have been most impressed with the equipment and facility so it makes for an interesting visit. For more information contact Danny on 07774 142740.

Dear All

Thank you to all who helped out with coaching on Tuesday. It was a very good session and hopefully bodes well for the rest of the winter.

As we have had a terrific turn out and I believe you are all interested in continuing to help I would like to arrange a coaches rota.

I would like to run 3 coaches per evening going forward based on the numbers likely and the 3 nets we have.

Attached is the winter nets rota. Can you update your availability and return to me asap please?

It is not helpful for people to just turn up.  We were a bit top heavy on Tuesday.

The players are learning new skills and they will perform better in the early stages with less of an audience (social inhibition due to the increased stress).

Please be there by 6.45 pm. To start in the nets at 7 pm.

We also need to follow best practice guidelines about providing lifts to and from for  colts. Get parents involved, never alone in a car etc

It will be great that we can use session plans as well. There are a number of reasons for this.

1. We have a record of what we've done for analysis of what's worked/ not worked.
2. We have template plans for use in future years for the same skill/age groups.
3. A condition of Clubmark. Best practice etc. Will instill confidence for both player and parents etc.
4. New coaches/management team coming into the club can see what has gone before.
5. They are used in assessments for Level 2 and above.
6. Failing to plan, planning to fail etc

Attached is a template.

Also coaching does involve the use of repetitive drills to learn or bed down a technique and then convert to a skill. I would like to see use of drop feeds with tennis balls for shots etc. Batting coaching can happen in the space of the net but doesn't have to be a traditional net. Indeed the erratic nature of bowlers means it is unhelpful.

The coaching focus this side of Xmas is on weaknesses. When then move over to strengths as the season approaches.

To be clear of the task in hand our colts had 6 or so scores in single figures in their top ten scores of last season. Their technique is poor so they lack confidence and concentration. I want to move them to Repeatable Good Performance (RGP).

Bowling is stronger. We need to do some work on fielding technique as well (although this will come later in the winter so as not to bore them off.)

A quick update on where we are with coaches.

I am level 2 now and will be doing 2+ over the winter.
Rishi & Neil are qualified Level 1 now.
Mark is waiting to complete assessed session plans (??) and do his level 2 assessment.
Chris C is to do his safeguarding children and first aid course asap.

I hope others will take the opportunity to do the level 1 this spring. It would be terrific to get Ed on a course (no pressure!) and Chris T on to the level 2 course.

Also we hope to run a ECB "Introduction to cricket...Be involved..." course at the hub in conjunction with Cambs CA at some point over the winter. This is for parents, people wanting to volunteer.

I am working hard to make sure we have the resources to achieve our development plan goals.

I would like us to really push ourselves as coaches for the benefit of all at the club.

Any questions or feedback.

Kind regards

Charlie

Nets start this Tuesday 21st Oct at Fenners in Cambridge.

This is a fantastic indoor cricket centre and will really allow us to push on over the winter. All welcome and encouraged to attend. The nets are at Fenners Sports Centre on Gresham Road in Cambridge centre.

Colts have the nets from 7 pm to 8.30 pm.

There is a training rota for the early session. Please get in contact with me if you would like to be added to it. Any parents who are able to offer lifts please get in touch, it is much appreciated.

PLEASE DO NOT TURN UP WITHOUT TELLING EITHER ME OR CHRIS THREADGOLD.

Senior nets are from 8.30pm to 10pm.

We will be running 2 coaching lanes (including 1 with the bowling machine) and a free net in the third lane. There is a limit of 6 people per net. This forms part of a code of conduct for nets which needs to be adhered to. Details will be available on the night.

Please let us know if you wish to come so we can keep an eye on numbers.

Please ensure you warm up before the start of the net. There is space outside to do a dynamic warm up.

Please support the coaching team and the club by following our & ECB codes of conduct.

Cost: £7 (at the moment) We are working on subsidising this further. Cost for the night is £105 just for the venue.

There is now a transport thread on the club forum for people to lift share.

I have also published on the website an 8 week general fitness circuit for developing strength/power and endurance for those who want it. It forms part of the published periodized training program in your club handbook.

Kind regards

Charlie

Dear All

Hope this finds you well.

Attached are the dates and booking form for the forthcoming Level 1 Coaching course. The club really needs some senior members to attend and start building the club's coaching base for Wednesday nights.  The club will support half of your fee and you will be able to apply for a bursary from Living Sport for the remainder.

Please book yourselves on asap. You do not need to send the chq now. The club (I) will liaise with you, living sport for the Bursary and the CCB to arrange the payment. We are an affiliated club as well.

Just get yourselves booked on the course before they fill up. With only 2 courses left now the one in Cambridge will be very popular.

The club target is for 5 x Level 1's this winter. We really need you to step up and be counted to help take the club forward to reach its goals. Please don't assume someone else will do it! "If not you, then who? If not now, then when?"

I am also looking into an exciting incentive of some description to motivate your completion!

Any questions please ask.

Cheers

Bit of a long shot….

Are there any legal professionals in the club?

I require some advice following the car accident I was involved in last year.

Cheers,

The social committee have begun taking money for this years end of season
social on Saturday 27th September from 2pm. The deadline for payment is the
15th September so please pass on the money to anyone in the committee,
preferably Mark Tandy or Sunil Sharma asap to avoid disappointment as
places are limited. Mark has booked the Go-Karting at Caxton which is £40
inclusive and gives us exclusive hire of the facility. To follow that at
5.30pm, Sunil has negotiated a deal with Chutney Joes as per the AGM, which
is 1 curry, rice or nan bread and a side dish for £10.00 (drinks payable
at a cash bar). It would be great to see as many of you as possible at one
or both events to help celebrate such a successful season.

Chaps and Chapettes,

The 1st team for this Saturday’s game against Longstowe is as follows:

Marc Crawford (wk vc)

Russell Shahadat

Paul Darrington

Vasu Kumanduri

Honey Sarao

Paul Cooke

Mark Tandy (captain)

Matt Casey

Vivek Joseph

George Lewis

Nick Banning

The game is at home and as it is the last week of August the game will commence at 13:30. So please be at the Pavilion for 12:15.

The 2nd team will be announced by Chris in due course, and they will need to meet at the pavilion at 12:00 as little Thetford is about 40 minutes drive.

This is our last game of the season so let’s finish the season in style with two big wins. It would be great if as many players as possible from both teams meet up at the Monkfield Arms afterwards for a shandy to celebrate what promises to be our most successful season to date.

Many thanks and see you on Sat…

We are also in the process of organising a meal out afterwards at Chutney Joes, details will follow shortly but will likely be a similar deal to the one we had at the AGM earlier this year.

Just a note to say that Cambourne Cricket Club could be on TV this Sunday (Cambourne is definitely featured but the clip of us playing cricket is subject to editing), 9pm on BBC1 on Britain From Above, presented by Andrew Marr.

Here is a preview (although we aren't on this particular clip)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/britainfromabove/stories/rewinds/cambourne.shtml

Also, a slight amendment to Marc's announcement last night. Sundays friendly game against St Giles is actually away at Dry Drayton and starts at the earlier than usual time of 12 midday. Contact Danny on 07774 142740 if you want a game, we are currently a bit short.

We are also a couple short for Saturdays important 2nd team home game against NCI. Contact Chris asap on orbinthesky@... if you are available.

Dear All

I am very pleased to announce that we have passed the visit section of our Club mark assessment.

Thanks to the following for their fantastic contribution on the day.

Chris T
Ed G
Mark T
Mike Longson jnr
All the U12's

We now have to get our evidence file into the ECB over the coming week or so and then we will get Clubmark this season. The success of today marks a considerable step forward towards this nationally recognized accreditation. More details can be found here.

My thanks to all those who have helped us get this far.

Cheers
Charlie

TTP have challenged us to another 20:20 game this Wednesday so please let me know if you are available and want to be included in the team. Because we have less light in August we really need to get going by 6pm at the latest (preferably earlier) so do your best to get to the ground as early as possible. To speed things up we will be playing 15 8 ball overs with no extra deliveries for wides and no balls.

There is still the possibility of training on Wednesday for those not playing in the game, it just won't be on the pitch.
