Get Back Into Cricket Event - Sat 26 Jan   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #6 of 188 |

Please take note of the press release below. You are all encouraged to
come along and make the day a success. The idea is to encourage people to
get back into playing a sport they may once have done a few years ago. It
would be great if you can bring along a friend, the kind that says in the
pub, "I wouldn't mind taking up cricket again" but never does anything
about it.

Note that anyone CC'd on this email needs to register on the new
distribution list asap or you will miss out on notices like this in the
future....

Cambourne Cricket Club in partnership with Living Sport’s ‘Get
Back Into An Active Lifestyle’ campaign is hosting a “kwik
cricket” event on Saturday 26 January 2008. The idea is to help
people get back into sport in a friendly, social and non-competitive
environment.

The event will be held at the "The Hub" Community Centre in Great
Cambourne from 3pm to 5pm. There will be chance to play “kwik
cricket”, which is played indoors with soft balls, and there will be
club officials present to offer coaching and guidance. There will also be
an opportunity to listen to representatives from the Cricket Club talk
about their sport and the virtues of being part of a club environment. All
ages are invited.

Charlie Stephenson, the Club Development Officer for Cambourne Cricket
Club, commented: ‘We are delighted to work in partnership with
Living Sport in this way. Sport is not only a great way to get fit and be
healthy, but it helps to build social networks and bring a community
together. This is particularly important in a new settlement like
Cambourne.”

Danny White, Chairman of the Cambourne Cricket Club, added: “I would
like to encourage all Cambourne people to attend this event, both young
and old, male and female. We want to put something back into our community
and to have as wide and diverse membership as possible. Kwick cricket is
also great fun and can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of your ability
level.”

If you are interested in finding out more information on the event please
contact Charlie Stephenson on 07824 484424.
